I think it has to do with their demographic, Like a lot of the folks on this website like japan because of anime or Dramas, since this website supplies animes and dramas those types of people will come here, if you went on a gangster rap website lots of people there would love rap and urban music, or if you were on a reggeton website it would be the same, it all has to do with what you are into and where you go to express it. =)

Yeah, they would love rap or whatever, but they probably wouldnt be obsessed about it... wapanese or otakus have a way of shutting themselves in, isolated from the rest of the world, in their own little dream world concisting of hello kitty dolls and smiling anime maids

LOL true, but some are really obsessed.

Hey, man, why concern yourself with what other people are interested in? If they like Japan, fabulous. If their like is heavily based on anime, awesome. If they want to run up and down the street dressed like a chopstick singing Naruto theme songs backwards, then they can go for it. It's not fair to them to get mad just because of what they like. Imagine someone being bothered and irritated at you because of something you're passionate about. Not fair. I'm not even that into Japanese culture and I think the whole "I am holier than thou because I like Japan for reasons outside of anime, music, and drama, ohohoho" or "Everyone who likes Japan is an idiot and needs to grow up" attitude is ridiculous.

Im not trying to get anyone upset. But you have to agree its kind of annoying when people say stuff like "i liek jappanisu calturu desu! < (^o^) >
when they actually like ANIME not japanese culture... its like they live in a dreamworld, and that my friend, is childish.

I went to a very diverse culture school, so in general I am interested in every culture, and Japanese is one of them. One of my elementary school friend's name would be the same as my name, although her name would be in Japanese. I grew up watching Chibi Maruko Chan, so I would want to learn more about one of my favorite anime's character's culture. I found Japanese language to be very interesting, because it would contain Chinese characters and some words would be pronounce like English. I took Japanese Calligraphy class, and I like Hiragana calligraphy for the simple strokes. Hiragana have similar to Chinese simplify characters, so I like it for it have connection with my culture, which it would be Chinese. ^ o ^ I am interested in Chinese not just because I am Chinese, instead I like the lingo of Chinese and the metaphors. I love the sweet soup from Canton, and I love the mochi from Japan.

You are the only one so far that can actually say that you like the culture, and i dont think thats bad.

I couldnt think of a good example, but here is one: watching anime and saying they like "japan" or "japanese culture" is like watching hidden dragon crouching tiger (or naruto) and suddenly looooove "martial arts"..

they are about as exagerated and "real" in those shows, and if you think about it, thats something a 6-10 year old kid would do... what makes it more chidish is the extreme childish obsession they get.

but as you said, let them do what they want... and i agree... but this childish "living in a dreamworld" thing has made many otakus, shutting themselves in, and caused Japan to go into a gray zone... thats why its dangerous

i love japan and japanese culture. for me, it started because i liked the comic style of manga. i started learning the language and found i had a great aptitude for it. knowing you're good at something boosts confidence and made me like japanese even more. of all the languages and other cultures ive studied, Japanese was by far the easiest and most interesting for me, which is why i delight in listening to japanese music, eating/learning about japanese food, history, dramas, etc.

Same

Fail troll is fail..

You come to an English speaking forum and expect not to be corrected? LMAO where have you been on the net? Being grammatically correct on forums is showing more then just your knowledge of the language.

And for your info, I know English, Spanish AND Japanese, ty.

You come with no discussion, only insults to what you believe is, 'phenomena'(Spelled right) is just people trying to enjoy entertainment. Some people get it from TV, some get it from artsy activities.. I look for my entertainment in japan. Is that so hard to get through your thick skull?

And you're talking about insecurity when you have your avatar pic holding a PISTOL? Weather I have an avatar pick or not, I can assure you that you would get your panzy ass kicked son.

Here's a question for you: Why are you fighting your own nature? (anyone take a view at this guys home page?? {becoming the hokage and world domination} <lmao..)

Why are you asking stupid questions about stuff you already know the answer? Why don't you ask theses questions to yourself before posting dribble then flaming everyone who has input instead of constructive conversation?

Still think you have a small something that needs being compensated for holding that pistol.

Is it so wrong to like Japan's culture better than your own? I mean, at least they have an interesting one. Salem, OR isn't really the best place if you want American culture so maybe I'm a little biased, but still.

just because of anime and japan's technology and the stereotype that the japanese get to have all the fun. no one glamorizes other culture because they don't make anything memorable.

I love Japan because of what i have seen of it from pictures like food, how the buildings look like, the people got so different Clothing and hairstyles and i wanna learn the language because its so different from Swedish language, and you cannot call me a Brainwashed guy because i have watched allot of anime and just seen pictures, and that i love Japan because i have just seen that little of it!! When my grandpa had come from Japan he showed me allot och pictures and is it a problem to like what you see?
When i have enough money and I'm old enough i will travel to Japan to test new different foods, see the people and all the wonders there are there!
LOVE doesn't mean you are obsessed in that, it means that you like it very much!
i don't wanna be like a flamer but its not a problem If a person is obsessed or love or just like a part of the world!

And one more thing... Because a person lives in a dream world of anime and is happy with that.. Leave!... That!... Person!... Alone!.. you don't have the rights to go forward to that person and say: You are a brainwashed Human.

I am obsessed of the japan language any problem that it makes my life a little bit interesting??
