Enough with the silly bishonens, it's time to make our children(boys) manly! Over half of those mangas have a strong, gar and manly, male persona.

Lol...Black Jack? That's a little gruesome for a boy.

Depending how old this boy is. (10 manga I want him to read at some pont in his life before he becomes an adult)

One Piece
Phoenix (it's actually kind of all ages)
Cross Game
Fullmetal Alchemist
Basara (so it's shojo, but it's an action fantasy)
Slam Dunk
Yu yu hakusho
Maison Ikkoku (not shonen, but it could be.)
Dragonball
Battle Angel Alita (he has to be at least 14, this is seinen)

I think I'll produce the best son ever! (lol maybe no but he will have a good introduction to good manga.)

If it were up to me i'd choose Fruits Basket. Sure, its mainly for girls and all, but personally as a guy i learned a lot of things from Fruits Basket.
