It might be overused, but definitely not overrated. There are different kinds of love you know

It overused and lost most of it meaning. Moreover, some-thing I keep pounded on this one thing. Just because a young man, say it more lust than love. So many teenage pregnancies, girl without a strong father image around ten more likely to fall for this. Boy more likely to go into prison as well, this were men need to step up not out on family.

I think that these three little words are used too much.. Well I am not sure, if they are 'lighter' forms of 'i love you' in English, but in German you can say different phrases for telling someone you like him.
So you would not have to use these words. But as far as I know it most people use 'I love you' most of the time.. I never did, cause I want to be 100% sure, that I really love the person I am telling..

For the overrated thing.. no they aren't overrated. For me it's the best feeling to love or to be loved..

its said too much in "unreal" relationships.
and not said enough in the real ones.

almost all of my friends says it daily to their "partner", they are from 16 to 18, and every time i hear them say it, i wonder what their answer would be if i asked: Do you see yourself with him/her in 10 years? or: Do you see him/her as the parent of your kids?
I mean those who say yes: this is teen love, you have known each other for about a year, been together for approximately 6 months, you dont live together, and you already see the two of you having kids, or being together for the next 10 years.
My friend, your relationship has only just begun..

There is such thing as 'love at first sight', except it's more like 'potential for love at first sight'. You have an interest in the person & some chemistry. It becomes love after finding out more about the person. This can be a short while or a long while. Either way, you never know the person till you marry 'em (or move in with 'em).

Personally, I think it is a waste of time if I cannot see the person with me for long-term. If they're looking for a fling, I'm signing myself up for heartbreak sooner or later. (Being wise is hard.) Of course no one knows what the future holds but love takes work. Like my friend says, love isn't a saying or a feeling but an action. ^-^

Anyway, saying 'I love you'...Well, it's not only about if you mean it or not. One should consider if saying it is in the best interest of themselves and their love interest. Thus, instead of saying it is 'overused' or 'overrated' I would say it is misused.

- Peace & Love - :'3
