The words 'I love you' are definitely overused these days, yes. But it doesn't mean that all those people are lying, and it doesn't mean that their feelings aren't true. Yes, some guys and girls just say I love you to either sleep with them or to use them. Yes, friends do use it nowadays. But love? Love's still definitely there. You can't just go saying that love means nothing, there are people who would travel to the ends of the earth just to see the one they love again. There are people who fall in love so deeply that they never forget about that person for their entire life. "I love you" can hold feelings so deep that the other person will never understand. But... that's just how it is, I guess.

Why do you even care? It's just words. Use them however you like. If you mean that you really love someone, say it like that. Just because your saying those same words doesnt mean you can't say it differently.

It really annoys me some of the stupid threads people post on this site.

That is so true these days, and it's a damn shame that our society has stooped this low where even words mean something different.

Yeah, I hate how the word 'love' is now thrown around by everyone and said to anyone. I've only said I love you to family and a couple close friends. People know that I won't say I love you unless I mean it. And that's how it should be for everyone. Love is losing its meaning, sadly.

i love you is a phrase overused, duuh, but of course it means a lot to us humans.
it strikes the heart and it's the most sweetest way to express love in words <33
in my opinion, anyway. xP

i thought i was the only one, yes it does bother me when people do that, i have yet to tell a boy that i love him, and i wont until i know him for awhile, and i really do feel that way. because of the overuse of those words i feel that by the time i find someone i really do love, it wont mean much of anything to him when i tell him. i want it to mean something

We say ''i love you'' very often and quickly without really thinking what we mean. because relationships nowadays are very shallow and epidermic we confuse the passion we feel for someone as love. I guess the phrase I'm in love with someone and i love someone is actually different because in the first case we love-like someones good personal traits and appearance while in the second case we love the whole package with positive and negative aspects. but human beings these days are greedy and egoistical so the second type of love is really rare. but then again maybe i am exaggerating and i am too pessimistic about this subject!

I realise that men do not or rarely say "I love you" to the women they really love, not after 1-2 years of going out . if he tells you he loves you all the time long after you started going out with him, your guy may be a bit strange. but who knows, depends on the guy's personality and your situation as well.

Isn't it better that it's overused rather than underused?

Hmm...it can be over used. But that is just a matter of tolerance. Some people feel things when they are with their special person. And at that very moment, it comes out often... sometimes out of control often. It is perspective and trust that keeps those words special no matter how often they are used.

If your significant other says they love you all the time, it is you who decides with your trust in them that they mean it each and every time. Over thinking it and labeling it as 'over used' is a sign you need to either find out how you truly feel and say something, or you are not being very fair when your significant other is probably being honest. Ever hear of the birds and the bees?

Be careful... sometimes it is a sign of insecurity. Which is the common reason for domestic violence and controlling relationships.

Knowing the difference is always the key to know if each 'I love you' is real and honest.
