I'm not really a big fan of the "Horror" genre, but this anime has that something that makes you not want to stop watching it. Seems decent, panty shots & the boobage are blah, but the action makes up for it I guess. The main female character has the potential to make me want to shove her off a cliff though, she's too whiny & helpless.

Ok. I'm getting a little annoyed that people are calling the main female lead Rei, weak, helpless and whiny...
YOU put yourself in her shoes! A zombie apocalypse breaks out, people start dying all over, your childhood love starts acting all weird, your current love gets bitten by a zombie and then later turns into a zombie and gets killed by your childhood love. I can bet my arse on that you wouldn't feel to great. You'd probably jump of the building right away.

This anime shows very realistically how people would act in a time of panic. Just look at the BFF girls...

I mean seriously c'mon!

Well, it has to happen eventually. I mean, sure, you'd be broken up but in a life or death (or undeath in this case), kill or be killed situation, there comes a time where you have to begin putting survival first and feelings second. The situation won't get better if you wish it away so there's only one way, which is to kick all ass in your immediate vicinity. The moral of the story is that Zombies don't mess around, lol.
Time to grow some balls! Look at Takashi, he had to kill his best friend. Desperate situation call for desperate measures. You don't gotta like it, but you'll learn it if you wanna live.

I don't think it's an easy task to put your survival infront of killing someone you love. Imagine of it was someone you loved! Would you just be able too shrugg it of and kill this certain person in a kill or be killed situation. And there's only one reasons Takashi is able to keep his sanity and fight on and that is Rei.

But then again... who knows how you'd act in a situation like this.
Maybe you'll just snap and be like "Killing mode activated" Wuhahah x)

Yea...theres no way someone would not be upset for as long as she was. Everything she has done has been perfectly logical in that situation. People can get over those things in days...weeks....or maybe months and years.....but not in like a freaking hour.

I'm so happy that they are following the Manga story line and not f'ing it up like other manga to anime projects. As a zombie fanatic I felt chills when watching this cause it puts you into the action up close and very bloody personal!!! Oh I forgot to mention that they are not lacking in the Fan Service dept. either!!!

Well since you did not say anything about animes using the zombie apocalypse card...Im gona assume it hasnt been used often in anime. Therefore its original as far as anime goes. And I do think setting matters....somewhat....it sets the whole mood for the anime....if this took place in Heaven or something...that would be different. If this was taking place in a remote island....that would be different too. If its taking place in a school like this is....Well there is a higher chance for emotional attachment due to how all the students might have known each other. Having this in a School Setting is practically ideal. It allows much more twists and turns to be had.

But hey...I havent seen any zombie flicks or anything of the sort so....I really wouldnt know whether im spewing crap or not. But yea you got a point

Well, there's Tokyo Majin, which is about a group of high school students fighting the "reborn dead" (which is basically the same as this show) and there're a couple other anime that envolves zombies or even has one as a main character, but nothing "end of the worldish." So it's not so original, in fact, you can even tell what's about to happen next since it has been done before over a hundread times, the setting doesn't really change much.

Personally, I'm finding it quite epic. It has what I like in an anime dramatics, seriousness, action and the fanservice helps too.

I sometimes think the reason people criticize such characters are because they represent the way they believe they would themselves probably react, whereas the characters they label as "strong" are the ones that react as they would want to.

it was a little sad but unfortunately in these kind of situations people tend to think for themselves instead of others.
