There is currently no way to remove all the genetic factors contributing to "stupidity," & even if there were, the task would have to be nearly insurmountable when one considers the incredible number of combinations of chromosomes in our extremely diverse world of humanity.

This sounds like Brave New World to me. [Scary, should we be going here? Are you really ready to be designated a Beta?]

Nothing to hard.. But people with physical traits that can be passed on like cancer, blood disorders should not have kids.
For the betterment and safety of the children one should have to be sane and have a strong foundation in reality.
Also for both helping the economy and for the welfare of the children a person economic standing should be examined.
We do not need more kids on the street do to families to poor to raze them.

1. If we forbid people from having kids just because a certain illness runs in their family, then no one would be allowed to have kids. Every family has some sort of health issue that is prominent in their lineage.
2. I don't think many mentally unstable people are having kids anyway. Then again it depends on how you define sanity.
3. It's reasonable to check a person's financial situation to ensure they can afford to take care of a child

The problem with this and any other form of parent licensing is how are we going to enforce it? It would be extremely difficult to monitor everyone and make sure they aren't reproducing without a license, we'd have to violate people's right of privacy.

Many aspects of the society in that world are already a part of American society: dependence on drugs (both legal and illegal), mindless entertainment, emphasis on instant gratification, recreational sex is becoming the norm, monogamy is less common, consumerism is rampant, individuality is looked down upon (not everywhere but in many places). While not all of these are necessarily bad, we're already more than halfway to living in the world of that novel, so I wouldn't be surprised if we did end up going so far as to having a caste system like that sometime in the future (probably in the distant future though).

Also now that we have the human genome mapped The 'nurture' side of the 'nature' and 'nurture' debate has received a boost in that there are many features of living things we've proved are either teratogenic or require an environmental stimulus during the developmental period to be completely expressed.

besides if we were going to make a meritocracy where citizenship was based on some attribute deed or achievement. I'd rather instead of an IQ test, require military, emergency services, or hazardous diplomatic duty service as the requirment. IE you want a say in your country's policies? put your life on the line for your country first.

I became more Anti Military once I got to see how things work from the inside.

The 'you' was rethorical. I meant:

If I was imposing a merit based criteria for citizenship, the criteria would be risking your life on behalf of your fellow citizens/nation's interest.

Whats going to happen to the family within the next 2 or 3 generations, when there won't be any more monogamy anymore, just single mothers, both guys are girls are already pretty damn slutty and most of em don't care about relationships, cheating has become so commonplace, so whats going to happen to the poor kids getting dragged along for the ride ?

Well that basically only applies to straight people, I imagine that the majority of families left would be gay parents. Since they seem to be the only people left interested in forming a family.

OK so it has been established that IQ does not mean anything by itself. But I totally agree that a series of tests should be developed to aid in weeding out the stupid. If you think that's a bad idea, then listen to this and tell me if this is a good example of the type of people you want to populate our future. So my buddy has a girlfriend in her early twenties that A.) Thinks that aluminum foil is not metal and is microwave safe, B.) Thinks that laundry detergent can also work in the dishwasher, and C.) Thought that you took the key out of the ignition of new model cars by bending it downward (Thereby snapping the key off in the ignition of her new car). That is not even all of the stupid shit she has done, and America, especially, is full of these idiots!!! If you think these people should be allowed to vote or breed, then I am just going to have to lump you in with them. And no I will not apologize or back down from my hard line opinions.

Oh we could remove some of our dopey safety bear regulations and the lawyers who help put them into place by not letting people take responsibilty for their actions when they can enter the 'Sue you' lottery instead.

when these people kill themselves because they confused 'cruise controll' with 'auto pilot' you can think of it as evolution in action.

Not that it matters dude. We're all fiddling while Rome burns.

I'm just curious about two things:

If we stop allowing people with <100 IQ to reproduce, how would we even go to that solution? The only way I can see this happening is through two dictatorial actions taken upon the American people, who value freedom so much. First, there will have to be a mandatory IQ testing of EVERY citizen to be permanently recorded into a national database. And TWO, the individuals with less than 100 IQ will have to undergo painful and humiliating sterilization surgery. Not to mention, how will we determine what age to start cutting off people's balls? People can get smarter (in IQ sense) as they age. So a high schooler at 18 who is below 100 IQ can actually achieve higher than 100 IQ assuming they gain more practice in problem solving and using his/her brain. If this sterilization act is put into place and we temporarily (for sake of argument) sterilize someone, they'll have to undergo the surgery again to be able to reproduce again.

This thread is utter mindfuck and those who support it are dumb because they don't realize that this kind of idea is more trouble than its worth. Smart people have always been able to achieve great things; creating a world of only smart people is moot.

Knowledge is the key in any endeavor. This is why we should implement my plan to have people take some sort of intelligence test to allow them to breed(I know that genetics does not always determince ones intelligence), have a drivers license, and vote. I believe that this plan will thin out the population of man kind. It will also make people strive to achieve even the most basic of rights. This will further man kind as well. Imagine a world with only people that are intelligent. This will push human kind even futher, we will invent more, understand the earth more and maybe even become something else entirely.

I know that most would disagree with me, but the people that do not meet the standard intelligence requirement need to be phased out. We can not base our way of thinking on race, but on one's intelligence and actions. This would be the start of a new world, a better world and a world were great things take place.

I understand that this will not get rid of criminals, but most criminals are not intelligent so it will get rid of some. The reason that most people commit crimes is because they are weak minded and are not intelligent enough to have get a decent job. Most of these people deserve nothing more than death and may find it soon enough if they do not watch out.

If I get the chance one day I will implement this plan. I will go to the university of Chapel Hill to get my masters then the FBI. If I ever have enough power you can bet on it that I will make this happen. I will force all to atleast graduate from high school or they will be band form the country. This is one of my dreams. They other must be pretty obvious. Can you guess? It is to capture and bring serial killers and rapist to justice. They are the most disgusting creatures on the plant and all that cross my path will face justice!

It's hypocritical to talk about weeding out stupid people when you make so many grammatical errors and have a somewhat idiotic plan to implement all of this. How would getting into the FBI accomplish any of this? You would need political influence in order to have a chance at proposing all of this, and joining the FBI isn't a very smart or reasonable way to gain that influence. Even if you did rise to a position of power in the U.S, this proposition would have almost no support due to the fact that it involves violating people's civil liberties.

Before you go starting a campaign to commit genocide on stupid people, you should educate yourself a little more, and maybe along the way you'll realize how stupid and unreasonable it is to promote this idea of selective breeding in a country that greatly values individual freedom.
