Well, I haven't really seen Robotech, but I've watched one of its components in full(Macross) and loved it.

Robotech is like 3 series edited into one. The first is Macross, the second Southern Cross I think, and the 3rd was called Mospaeda or something. Yea, it's a bitch to find any of these.

Actually, most of those series have been released in the west fully subbed and uncut now. I know for a fact Mospaeda and Macross are available.

I've been picking away at the original macross myself. They may take a little digging, but they're really not too hard to find anymore. I beleive ADV even has a release of the original macross out now (I'm watching the animeigo one).

ummm. Robotech is the name on the American version of it. They took 3 unrelated series, SDF Macross , Super Dimensional Cavalry Southern Cross and Genesis Climber - Mospeada. Then they threw away the storylines for those 3 and made a completely new story so they would all seem connected, they also made a OVA between Macross and Southern Cross to give it a further connection and to use it as a explanation for the very different mechas used in them.

By doing that they put in elements that was never meant to be in the Anime and raised several dozens of questions that could never be answered.

And well, you have to remember that all 3 of them was made in the early 80s, so they didn't have the same technology that we have now. But i would love to see SDF Macross be remade with the same graphic as Macross Zero, those Variable Fighters looked really beautiful :)

Well, Robotech is good, but if you see that i would recommend you to see the 3 original series too. They are way better storywise in my opinion.
