1 second was edited from Code Geass R2 hardly totally cut it was most likely because they wanted to get a 15 rating like the rest of the series instead of a 18 would be my guess.

The cut was mandatory:

The BBFC wrote:
This work was cut. The cut(s) were Compulsory. To obtain this category cuts of 0m 1s were required.

Further information on cuts made:
Company was required to remove a shot likely to encourage an interest in underage sexual activity (in this case a young girl in the background of a shot suggesting sexual activity). Cut made in accordance with BBFC Guidelines, policy and the Video Recordings Act 1984.

"The cut(s) were compulsory. To obtain this category cuts of 0m 1s were required"

i.e. to get a 15 the cut(s) of 1s were required.

Because the shot could encourage an interest in underage sexual activity if included in a 15 rated show. If it was rated 18 the cuts wouldn't have had to been made that's how I read it. Unless I missing something.

New anime, the same problem. I don't understand why this new series CR is streaming can't be shown for all members. Some of us pay money to be able to watch in good quality and earlier than other members. I would like to know who is putting this restrictions.

it depends on where you live at. It all has to do with regional lock out laws because your country was unable to get a license grant to stream the series there. In other words, because YOU live in a certain part of the world, you are unable to view certain media online or off unless you want to import dvd's later on.

Yes, but why can't crunchyroll try at least for anime member to get a worldwide license? In the Summer 2010 block there are only 3 Anime for Austria (no, not Australia)-Members, and they are the same as spring 2010.

It's sad, but if crunchyroll don't try to get more worldwide releases, at least for Anime members i have to cancel my account.

No, the cut was compulsory which means exactly what it says, likewise with "required to remove". Compare with the cut to Angelic Layer:

The BBFC wrote:
This work was cut. The cut(s) were made at the request of the distributor to achieve a particular category. To obtain this category cuts of 0m 0s were required., some or all of these cuts were substitutions.

Further information on cuts made:
Distributor chose to remove derogatory language referring to physical disability for a PG, in accordance with BBFC Guidelines and Policy. A 12 uncut was available to the distributor.

I'm still not really convinced to be honest different wording could easily mean the same the releases are quite a few years apart after all until I hear different from either Beez or Crunchyroll. I think anything about the Dangerous Cartoon Act (or whatever it's called) is pure fan hysteria.

Afterall Shinji groping 14-year old Rei was passed by the BBFC in March with no problems at all.

I'm beginning to see a trend for this summer's line up....mostly involving fetish protagonists.

Not that I totally mind ^____^

Meh, the pantlessness leaves me cold. I just like the characters. Yeager amuses me. I wonder what the real Chuck Yeager would think of her if he knew. For whatever reason Wolf-Dietrich is my favourite. She looked her best in her red cocktail dress..

... I wonder why they removed "Lille Marlene" from the dub though that was just stupid.

Stuff like that is pretty common, unfortunately. The song is from the 40's but it's still technically under copyright and not in the public domain. And the rights holders, probably the family of the song's original writer, say, "Yeah, we don't want our song to be associated with some weird lolicon fetish show." Or in many cases, they're fine as long as it stays in Japan, but when it comes to the international version (Funimation's DVD release), they want it cut. It's the one bad part about Funi's DVD release.

Still, you can always import the Japanese blurays (with English subtitles and dub) if you want, as it has Lili Marleen intact.

right did some investingating for the UK anime news reels and we have a slight answer

Hello ******

I'm sorry but I would not know the specific reason why Strike Witches Season 2 is not available in the UK but, we always try to get the distribution rights for as many regions as we can. So, if we are not providing a particular series in your region, that would most likely be due to us not being able to gain the right to distribute the series in that region. Though, this particular instance may be due to the UK ban on Lolicon Anime.

For a non-speculative response, you should contact bd@crunchyroll.com but you are not guaranteed to get a response.

Regards,

so looks like it's either licencing (seeing as the only licence i remember the UK getting from Kadokawa is Haruhi, this may be the main reason behind it) or because of the Dangerous Cartoon Act, but either way it's time for some more digging
