Impression on Strike Witches Season 2
Posted 7/7/10 , edited 7/7/10
I had the liberty to catch the 1st episode of season 2 pretty early and well I have to say is F^%) YEAH, It was really every thing that have been hoping for, in a second season of one of my favorite shows from 2007. I am also happy that Crunchy Roll Manged to pick up the streaming rights for the series as well. I will say one thing it just as ecchi as last season so for those who do not like that sort of thing I would not recommend watching it. I captured some screen shots and they are below this post.

If you are wondering where I watched it at send me a P.M. and I will be more and happy to send you a link

I never watched the first season. I think I watched maybe 1 or two episodes....and then just forgot about it......It might have been because I didnt really find the story too interesting....or maybe (pretty sure this is it) its because I've just never been a hardcore fan of action anime.....however a long time after strike witches 1st season ended....I became a full fledged Lolicon due to so many great anime's with Loli's in them so.....I think Ill pick back up the 1st season.....when I just think about Loli's kicking ass in the sky with guns.....it gets me pumped up now

If that's your outlook towards Strike witches and lolis then you won't be disappointed. Strike Witches was the very first anime box set that I owned. The lead girl who looks 12 is cute and flat chested and it's because of this she likes touching boobs. She'll do it a few times in the first season.

Looks like everyone got a power up (neuroi too)

I'm pumped, the Air Combat was as fun to watch as ever. And the pilot/witches are up to their old tricks.

I'm wondering about Shirley Yeager's new character design, is that red jacket civilian wear? or does it represent some oddball transition uniform between Army Air Corps and USAF? It's not familier to me. but Air Forces are not a priority in my military fascinations and I'm not American. (I still wonder what Chuck Yeager would think of being cast as a bunny girl)

And WHY WHY JAPAN? Why is Billy Bishop or his Descendant BRITISH!!! he's a canuck damn you. CANADIAN! (as were the most of the top 5 aces out of the Commonwealth in both world wars... )

I must say it is like, and unlike the original Strike Witches, Both in fun, drama, Action, and the interplay between characters, The Character Develpment, The Big and small suprises, and the challenges the 501st Joint Strike Wing will encounter, and how they overcome the obstacles ahead.

And for the record, I could care less that some only wear panties, heck if they didn't this would be an " R " rated to " X " rated anime and most of you would not be allowed to see it, So let's shelve the panties debate for another Topic on the strike witches.

I would like to see a patch made of our favorite Strike Wing, It would show others who we like and would look cool on a Bomber jacket too.

Acad, " Hunter " Glade.

Frankly, papagolfwhiskey I could care less who the witches are patterned off of, And I don't think the world would come to an end if it was written that Billy Bishop was in the RAF rather than the RCAF, Get a grip.

As to the weapons used, Almost all of them are true to life excep a couple, I think an RAF, or RCAF pilot would be able to shoot down aircraft with a Antitank Rifle, especially since the one Lynnette uses was a .50Cal WWI weapon, so I'm thinking maybe it's actually a 20mm Antitank Rifle, if such a thing exsisted for the ground troops.

Major Sakamoto and Miyafuji use a Type99 Naval aircraft 20mm Machine Cannon, (Though it looks scaled down to me),
It's funny that Luccini uses a Browning M1919A6 30Cal LMG whereas Charlotte Yeager usually uses an M1918A2 Browning Automatic Rifle
Minna, Erica, & Lilya use an MG42, whereas Trude uses Two of them.

Sanya uses a Rocked launcher of unknown type, and Perinne uses a Bren Gun. usually.

Lynnette appears to be using a "Stanchion Gun" AKA "Boys Anti-tank rifle" it's a 0.55 cal round is of a greater mass and diameter than the M2HB .50 cal and was pushed by slightly more powder to boot. However, it's not 20 mm (12.7 mm actually)

The Italians and Germans both used (among other things) a 20mm "Anti-tank rifle" developed in switzerland called the Solothurn.

Aside from Sanya's box launcher, all of the guns are Platoon support Machine guns or other small arms (mostly GPMGs)_. The B.A.R. isn't even that since it's too heavy and bulky to be an assualt or battle rifle but designed around too small a magazine to be a proper LMG.

I find who the Witches are patterned off of, interesting. As usual, tone of voice and cadence didn't carry over well in text. My rant had far less emotion in it that you appear to have perceived. My bad.

at least Sakamoto and Miyafugi aren't using the infantry version of the type 99, easily one of the top runners up behind the french Chaucet as the 'world's worst machinegun"

Anybody know where I can watch the first season uncensored?

The currency in this anime is odd to me. Im on episode 4 of the first season and apparently 20 yen back then is worth 400 bowls of rice. 20 yen is like 20 cents in the US so....its interesting
