Why do they always try to imitate the West?

I don't think they try to imitate the west, not any more or any less that we try to imitate them. There are so many competitions between countries about various things. For instance if you look in Fashion magazines you see a lot of Japanese street fashions coming out. not in Japan but in NY USA. So who is really imitating who here? With anime remakes and movies like Kill Bill (with a few japanese references), I think it's just the beginning.

Why the hell are there so many fucking fake blonds and basically white characters in every one of their creation? Fuck it! They may call them Japanese, but I am pretty sure there is no red-haired or green-eyed Japanese person in the entire island! Even in real life people dye their hair blond and use English gratuitously.

For the same reason that we imitate them. We don't imitate as much, but we do it. Why else would anyone in America use chopsticks?

There's a reason that anime characters have crazy hair and eye colors. If you ever go to Japan you'll realize it really quick. When you walk through the streets you see a sea of black hair. Pretty much everyone has the same eye and hair color.

And I think that anime characters have big eyes because they don't. Same kinda thing.

How is that ignorant? Japan is adopting western customs and western style is it not? They have devices, so I have heard, to make their eyes 'bigger', and their cartoons frequently show blond hair and blue eyed people, not a very common Asian phenotype.

So, yes, I agree with this much, but Chopsticks have been in America snice the Chinese came here in search of Gold (and to get away from the exploited hell hole that was their nation).

I dont think anyones trying to imitate anyone, the world is getting smaller, and closer, and people are embracing other cultures more and more, so i think ts a good thing

Okay troll, I'll feed you...

Your post was ignorant because you assume that just because you see another culture adopting part of your culture, that MUST mean that they are imitating you. (I'm guessing you are American)

This guy pretty much said it. Nobody is trying to 'imitate' each other. Maybe I'm being overly semantic, but when you use a word like 'imitate', it implies envy, and it sounds very condescending. Japan is adopting many 'Western' ideas, yes. The same can be said for any country in the world. This is mainly a result of the influence of the Americans' global economic empire.

Like otaku_125 said, the world IS becoming a smaller and more culturally homogeneous place due to globalization. Cultures all over the world are learning from each other, and adopting each others' practices. It's extremely arrogant of you to assume that the pattern of so-called 'imitation' is only going in one direction. It's attitudes like yours that cause millions of people to stereotype Americans as being egotistical.

Yes, accepting new ideas, I get that much, but, as I said, their fashion is directly modelled on attaining a 'Western Look', with dyes, contacts, and all, and their language have opted to replace older but otherwise perfectly fine words with an English equivelent. There is a fine line between 'imitation' and 'embracing other's culture', cameras that make your eyes more 'western' is not 'embracing other culture', its 'imitation'.
