Why is America so fond of television series about serial killers?
Posted 7/11/10
Granted I do love dark humor,

but we make it seem so casual to be funny and relaxed (and even witty)
while investigating a homicide--Creators of 'The Glades,' I'm looking at you.

I'd like to think if someone found my dead body, they'd be a bit more serious about it.
I'm just sayin'.

People like to watch things that reflect their culture, surroundings and upbringing. It's easier for them to relate to.

...wait... .__.

Oh that's right, I forgot about that. Hah.
I was looking through the forums and saw an ad for one of the shows and it was my immediate reaction.

We Americans love violence in any ways shape or form, epically when it's based on true events

It barely caught my eye. An orange with a knife plunged into it?
The blood pouring out put the thought in my head: "lol wuts wrong with us?"

Cause Dexter is awesome.

It would seem citizens are desensitized to the idea that serial killers aren't that awesome if they live down the street.

Don't we have the highest serial killer rate in the world?

Is that so?

Its strange, we can watch the most horrific things on TV but when we see it in person we can't deal with it.

I remember seeing a cat get run over and still being alive and suffering on the side of the road, I'm scarred for life. If I saw it on TV I'd be like "aww poor cat....moving on..." but I saw it in person and it was just horrific.

I don't like it. i don't see how one person can watch such tragic things like that. As for people liking it, I dunno. Some people like seeing death and humor together I guess.
