Then there is the homunculus using them to help make that damn stone. Okazaki Tomoya loses his mother at a young age, gets estranged with father, meets astral projections, loses full use of his arm Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide and when he finds love loses her, gets estranged with daughter, finally connects with her, she dies! Key are definitely S!

Fuko's ending was pretty sad... Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide and by end i mean the Clannad end, not after story I actually had to stop watching after story at ~episode 17... Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide the episode after her death where he picks up gambling and drinking ...because it was just too depressing. Didn't end up watching it for a couple of months. Even so, Air is still my personal saddest ending.
