Well, I did say I was carrying around an infinite grenade launcher... so yea, I wasn't actually expecting any horror in those.
Personally, I like the new games better, but that's because I like action, and I hate it when I spend a lot of time in a video game without killing anything, and the first ones had a lot of walking around aimlessly looking for random stuff... back in the day when I didn't knew any english... so yea, I just like to kill lots of zombies with cooler weapons than in L4D. Besides, none of the main horror franchises was really horror for me since the beginning (Doom, FEAR, Silent Hill, and RE)
Same thing with the movies: I was expecting to see Milla Jovovich punch, kick, and stab things while generally looking sexy, and maybe a dude getting stabbed with a chainsaw. I got both those things and they threw in Michelle Rodriguez there as well. (I love that woman) Anyone expecting something else from those is a fool... really.

But if you want a real horror game, try Alan Wake. That one's pretty cool. A real thriller doesn't let you feel save with the ability to shoot at things.

Till this day, Silent Hill 1 will remain the scariest and creepiest horror game ever. Everything about it was scary! From the setting and how it changes from foggy to night time, to the radio's statics, the monsters that comes out of nowhere to get you, the hospitals, the nun, the endings!

And the things about these games is how normal you are. You're not someone who uses super powers or a martial artist who can defeat multiple enemies at once, no. You are an average Joe who got himself in an unlucky situation and your weapons are mostly junk you find around here and there. In Silent Hill you use a freakin' stick!


I wish I can be a kid again, because as kids we get scared a lot easier! The last horror game I played was Escape from Bug Island and that was creepy as well. Giant insects, giant spiders, giant apes, lizard-women thingies, and the freakiest of all, that beast with a human face that I don't know what it's called!
