Same setting but with tanks and pants? -- Well, it has the same feel to Strike Witches. Laidback fun and friendship between cute girls, but it has a LOT less fanservice (one can argue it's due to pants) and a different thematic. It uses more logic (most of the times) and more historical facts and technical information than the previous. In that regard, it reminds me of Upotte! wich was almost ecchinformative with all the historical trivia about the guns. GuP does almost the same with the tanks. All in all, it's a no-brainer and fun watch. Same thing with Skygirls? Well, I haven't watched Skygirls, so I can't answer that completely. What I do know is that a friend of mine tried to watch Skygirls and he couldn't take it. Said it was too lacking in both action and plot. And that guy is a HUGE Strike Witches fan, so for him to say that, I believe it's serious business. About (Loli und Pantsu) Girls und Panzer, I find that it has a satifactory amount of action (as every single episode has had at least one scene with the tanks) and enough plot to keep me interested. All in all Girls und Panzer is a light-hearted and fun anime that doesn't take itself overly seriously in terms of realistic scenario (queue urban scenes) but seriously enough to use the actual logic of WW2 tank combat (A round hitting strong armoured tanks are not guaranteed to do anything and merely bounce off, for example, proper tank crews for each tank, etc). There is a lot of historical references, particularly when the historians are involved (almost every sentence they say is a reference to one historical battle or another) and a lot of humour throughout (the freshmen getting their answers on how to ride a tank, for example). In my opinion it is one to watch or at least give the first 3-4 episodes a go, especially Yukari. Gotta love Yukari. related: |

I love that girl, she's like me, but with tanks; as I am like that with fighter jets... Also Erwin, for some reason I like her and her team aswell... |
