Nostalgia
Posted 7/16/10 , edited 7/16/10
Today, as I sat down for lunch, I pulled up Wednesday's paper and read an article on the restoration of Boblo Island's olds steamer boats .

A spark of nostalgia lit up within me . I remember , as a kid , every summer getting on one of those boats , and taking the 18 mile trip to the amusement park with my family .

I remember the rides , the park foods, the picnics, the little league raffles , the zoo , and many other things back from those days .

Does anyone else have a bit of childhood nostalgia to share ?

(a little info on Boblo can be found here ) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boblo_Island_Amusement_Park

The "Secretly" huge impact I've had on things......(If you don't know what I'm talking about then you've either lived in a hole somewhere or have a serious case of self denial/jealousy)

Whenever I reconnect with an old friend I haven't talked to in a few years, nostalgia hits me pretty badly. I remember what life was like back when we were friends, and how different it is now.

Yep, remember those days when you used to open up boxes of cereal just to get those crappy toys that came with it? Or putting in your NOW 48 CD into your CD player and listening all day long. Or how about going to your sweet shop to get 1p sherberts.. those were the good ol' days.

Unfortunatley, no. Since my family moves every year or two, i dont make really close friends or fond memories like such. Must be nice tho!

● The tv shows I watched growing up (Rugrats, Rocko's modern life, DBZ, Clarissa explains it all, All That, The Wild Thornberrys, As told by ● Ginger, Pokemon, Digimon, & more)
● My toys, like Skip it, Connect the 4, my kite, my DBZ action figures and other stuff I can't remember
● Sometimes talking to an old friend stirs up that nostalgic feeling, but since I didn't like kids back then hard to say.
● Staring at the sky, daydreaming, hide & seek, self-discovering, & bleh.

Cartoon Network (Before they died in my opinion in 2008), Toonami, Toonami Jetstream, Nickolodeon (It's horrible now. Died in 2005 for me.), the 6th gen era of video games, and school sometimes. It seems like only yesterday I started school and now I'm going into the 10th grade.

yesterday, I watch lion king in my cousin sister's house. Lion king was a big part of my childhood.

I guess, I get nostalgic when I watch shows or back to places that I visited often when I was a kid.

Yep, the only constant is change. Nostalgia gets worse the older you become particularly if you let your memories get very selective. Some bygone events I really do miss and wish I had lived them differently, but most I don't.
