Is in anyone on here straight edge, if you are why and how long. If you aren't straight edge whats your opinion of people who are?

Personally I am, I have been straight edge ever since I was 15. The whole reason I became straight edge was because a bunch of friends and I were on the way home from a party and I was a little buzzed still but my friend driving was drunk as well as my other friend in the front passenger seat. Since I was only 14 I didn't feel like making a big deal about them driving drunk that night because they had done it before and they were both 18 so I felt it wasn't my job to tell them what to do. The driver wasn't wearing his seat belt but the front seat passenger was. He was taking a sharp turn coming down the mountain and he swerved because he thought he saw someone in the road and went right off the side of the mountain. I was in the back seat and had my seat belt on and I messed up my beck pretty bad but I recovered within 6 months but my two friends in the front were seriously injured. After the car accident I was severely scarred by the experience. Both of my friends were in the trauma intensive care unit for a week. My friend who wore his seat belt made a full recovery as to where my other friend (the driver) is bound to a wheelchair for life and will never walk again because he suffered a spinal injury. I am grateful that he rolled off of the side of a small mountain and nobody else was hurt but if it wasn't for alcohol none of that would have happened. On my 15th birthday I pledged to be straight edge so I would never do what my friends did to me, to someone else. I have been straight edge for 6 years and it doesn't really bother me not being able to drink or do drugs if not controlled properly they can both mess up your life.

i am not a strait edge. i do marijuana. and before alot of people say that it effs you up, its not as addicting as crack or even alchohol. it can cure social diseases and stuff. i dont mind straight edges as long as they dont start ripping me a new one.

a straight edge is someone who doesnt drink or do drugs or smoke. they are clean

I don't have a problem with someone who smokes pot I just don't like people who badger their friends into doing it. I don't really bother people who drink or do drugs do whatever makes you happy as long as you can do it safely and control it. Even though you are right about it not being addictive a few of my friends who started with just smoking weed are now huge crackheads and dealers so it can lead to other drugs but its not very common for you to it all depends on the situations you put yourself in.

Nah dude, granted I'm not into hardcore drugs, but I'm into some shit. I've driven home intoxicated plenty of times. But shit man, good on ya, I don't judge. The way I see it, you're less likely to get an early ticket to hell.

Yeah when I look back at it, it was a really stupid decision I can honestly say it is one of those decisions that I regret but again can't do anything about since it was almost 7 years ago.

I'm right there with you, I try not to judge but if I see someone making a harmful decision I won't hold back. I would rather be seen as a judgemental asshole than a bad friend if my friend is doing meth or something as dumb as the choking game.

I drink socially & have admittedly driven under the influence.. but I generally strive to maintain a wholesome lifestyle.

As for straight-edgers, to each his own.

Being a straight edge just means you have no discipline to control your behavior while under the influence. What the hell are you teenagers(14-18) doing anyways drinking when you barely know how to drive?

Jesus fucking christ, I have no pity for you guys. Only hate.

I'm 21 and most people posting are from 16 - 18. In my country at 16 you can buy an alcoholic beverage at a restaurant and can purchase it from a store at 18 so no I disagree everyone posting should have the right to drink its just The United States is very strict about it. Secondly straight edge doesn't mean you don't have the ability to control it is a lifestyle choice. I personally do not have the ability to control my drinking because of my genetics. I realized that so that also influenced my decision to be straight edge. Don't judge when you clearly don't know anything you are talking about since you made a very poor opinion based off of no facts at all. You just assumed everyone here was from AMERICA and that everyone's drinking age was 21.

im not straight edge... i do drink every now and then, but not with the intention of getting drunk... i guess you could say im semi edge or something, lol.
As for drugs or smoking, haven't tried it and probably won't ever do it either... Maybe pot to see what its like, but other than that, nah.

Like some have already said, to each their own... after all there are other enjoyfull things in life, other than drugs/smoking and alcohol.
I personally don't believe that being straight edged means that you are unable to have any self control, quite the opposite to be honest.
I think being straight edged is a lifestyle in which you choose not do certain things anymore because you have seen what it can cause.

IMO, it shows that you care about yourself and the people around you.. after all to quote DRO1> "you're less likely to get an early ticket to hell." or heaven for that matter.

I'm not straight edge but I'm still responsible when it comes to drinking. I don't really enjoy drinking much because it wastes my hard-earned money and makes me say stupid things that I usually cringe at later. So I might have 1 champagne in a blue moon, but for the most part I don't drink. I've tried marijuana (like most teens I was curious) and in my opinion it was much the same as drinking in that it wasted money and made me into a bit of an idiot. I would prefer to spend my money on going to see a movie with friends, or go dancing, or buy myself something nice- things that will be enjoyable with no repercussions and no hangover!
