Its more practical on an economic and financial level to make cars that are considerably faster then they were about 7-10 years ago. As somebody stated, its easier to make high horsepower vehicles these days with the advancement in technology, relatively ( the key word here) lower cost of production and the general idea of keeping up with the consumers tastes. Plus with money going into Hybrid or 100% electric engineering, they can easily break off to make an ordinary internal combustion motor that puts down AT LEAST 250 to the crank with no desire to mark up the price tag. . .

Practically that delivers in the form of a financial solution to the customer. . .

"Here is your family sedan with all the bells and whistles for 30 grand. . .but that 300 horsepower is just for you *wink*"
