You probably heard the news about OneManga removing all it's scanulations and the licensors and publishers stepping up on stopping scanulations.
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2010-06-08/u.s-japanese-publishers-unite-against-manga-scan-sites
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2010-07-22/manga-scan-site-says-it-will-remove-manga
I won't miss the place too much as I would only read manga that wasn't licensed here in America there as I always prefer legal stuff (Legal anime streaming, legal anime downloads) vs illegal stuff (Fansubs, scanulations). I had a weird idea on what they could do. They could try going legit like Crunchyroll did. Basically they secure legal deals with the Japanese publishers (Like Shueisha, Shogakukan, Kodansha) and make legal manga scans to put up there and make the chapters unavaliable to people in a certain region once the manga volume that has those chapters is out in that region (Ex: Can't access Naruto chapters X-X in America because X volume is out). Though if they went legit they could also take chapters down weekly or something try what VIZ Media is currently doing with their Shonen Sunday and Sigikki imprints. So what ideas do you have on what they should do?

OneManga has 2 options

1.) Move to another site.
2.) Follow the CR business model and suffer a slow and painful death.

well I guess ur right>> legal business is better
but then the rest who can't afford to hav the manga will suffer.. & the whole meaning of sites such as onemanga is to offer fans free scans to enjoy
not that it's legel.. it's just making the site legal won't please everyone which makes it a bad solution ;(
I for example will have to wait months to get the manga that I want, or order it & that's sucks (checking sites, paying too much fees..etc)

oh well hope they move their site

They should use option 1.
It's better and we will all still get our manga.

option 2 sucks....
the only reason I'm still on CR is because I like the community here but once everyone start leaving, I'm packing up too.

Right. Until they all go to jail or get sued for every penny they have?
Sorry, but it doesn't always work that way, or else every company would continue doing that.

I say follow CR and go legal. It may be slow, but things start to pick up after awhile.

Edit:
For anyone who can't afford to buy manga. Here's a solution. Go to the library.
They have manga there. And if they don't, you can ask them to bring them in. Which they WILL.
Borrow it for free, read it at home for free, and then bring it back when you're done. Best of all. It's LEGAL. *gasps* So yes, little ones. Go and find this place called a "library" and find happiness.

We're all screwed if that happens...

I was kind of disappointed, really. Do you know how expensive manga is in the US? About $10.00 + tax, but in Canada it's even higher.

You don't really get manga here...and if you do it's stuff I don't actually read in the first place. It might be a good idea to go the same way as CR did...It would be legal that way. The only thing is they'd need the manga publishers permission first. :/

Hey those Japanese are not greedy. Do you know it is hard to make a living in the anime and manga field in Japan. They make ends meet like the rest of us. If someone was stealing from you would you watch them take the stuff or get angry and get it back. The same concept goes here. Personally, I have had so much stolen from me because of my brother, his friends, and I couldn't do anything about it. It was because I didn't have proof that they took it. Well the same thing is happening to Japan and they are getting pissed. Some of them are already barely making it.

What they should do is take the stuff of the net,get permission from manga companies and go from there. The legal way is always the better way. Face it if more sites showed free stuff then everyone does it who is going to pay for all of this stuff in the long run. Eventually the people would stop making it and there you go. Is that what you really want?
