Yup! You said it. In Japan. But not very popular in the world. Momusu/ Berryz/ C-ute are very famous not only in Japan but also in the world. YES AKB48 are famous too, but not more than the other 3 groups when it comes to THE WORLD.
I hope they'll be more famous, otherwise I wouldn't be posting about them. I knew them since long ago but never liked them. I thought they are 20 members so When I discovered that they are 48, they got my interest..

I would have to disagree and say that AKB48 is probably just as popular as Berryz/C-ute in other parts of the world, more notably the United States due to both Morning Musume and AKB48 both performing in the US. I am pretty much unaware of the group's popularity worldwide (I'd like to know how you 'know' the popularity in and outside of Japan), but at least in the US the group is very popular. If you go to any anime conventions in the US, you can find vendors or con-goers playing AKB48 music occasionally and find their music on sale. Vendors only carry music from the groups that are popular/will give them a profit. Also, many of the Asian music forums I visit (usually inhabited by English-speaking people ie: USA, Canada, UK, Australia) have an AKB48 thread. With success comes recognition. AKB48 is more popular than Berryz Kobo and C-ute in terms of success on the music charts. Berryz and C-ute are probably more known from Hello! Project/Morning Musume in the foreign market than from their actual music. From my view, many of the people who listen to Berryz and C-ute only found out about the groups due to Morning Musume.

Some would say at this point that having so many members is crazy...........
I think nothing can surprise me anymore with the number of members in any group.
As long as they do fine in the music industry and as long as they do they job. And of course, gain fans like every other groups.

But having so much members on a stage seems kinda better then just a few members. The whole stage looks more alive *lol *
