I understand more then most how it feels to be trapped in your own skin. The sensation of losing blood can almost seems pleasant as though the more you bleed the farther away reality becomes. And then there are some who cut because of their fascination with blood.... I know all these reasons because I've dealt with them as a child of nine. And I want others to be aware; That sometimes its not just a phase, these behaviors enhance a certain detachment from reality giving the cutter almost a sense of Godliness. And believe this; its probably because of the blood loss....

So often I see people younger or my own age who indulge in these destructive behaviors without realizing or caring about the other people in their life that care. You know those people in your life that are left to clean up your mess. Beyond the fact that its not at all cool or that you strip away every ounce of dignity as a person; if you can't save yourself no one else will.... Thats the bottom line. Many will try and fail. These things will incur doubt in your mind, but be strong. You must live to take care of the ones the love you or don't love you enough....

Sorry for the ranting.... I came across a profile pic with someones CR handle carved in their arm; it got me thinking that maybe there are more people in this situation with no comfortable outlet...

If anyone would like to talk about something with me, no matter the relevance, PM me

"Hello Layla, my sweet little english muffin"

That's my tribute to matt striker; (wwe)

As for your topic, escapism comes in so many ways/forms, that I dare say cutting isn't the worst one.
Most bleeders enjoy the sensation enough to not want to die, so there's a next time and a next time, but the true risk lies in the exposure to
infections.
It's probably easier for you to get your point across with some nasty pictures you can get at sites like ogrish and show the cutter in question the way to proper disinfectants and or cannabis as an alternative

O.O
Cutting isnt as bad as suicide or drugs... At least cutting isn't garunteed to screw up your future (minus the possibility of death and some problems with your veins)

People cut themselves to get some relief from the depression, emptiness or whatever they feel.

The motivations for self-harm vary and may be used to fulfill a number of different functions. These functions include self-harm being used as a coping mechanism which provides temporary relief of intense feelings such as anxiety, depression, stress, emotional numbness and a sense of failure or self-loathing

Good thing I never succumb to mutilating myself for "relief" or "ease my pain." My form of escapism from sorrow was music, sleep, thinking, or just crying. I never thought of cutting myself not even once.

Trust me, I think most people will be smart not try nowadays.

Though once I thought about to, so never mind what I said.

Couldn't agree more. Not to mention how much more of an idiot they are if they're showing it off on CR and putting it up on their albums.

I smell attention whores. Just get over it. There are people out there that have a way harder life than you. Cutting yourself doesn't help you or your body. Just go and do yoga or something if you want to feel better about yourself. =___=;
I just never understood cutting. I think they just like to look back at it and love the feel of pitying themselves and want others to do the same.

I've known two people who've actually cut for the escapism and around 10 who've done it for attention. Those who say they cut= attention whores. From what the two told me it's suppose to draw your attention away from other things with physical pain although I've slapped both of them and called them idiots.

I don't get why they cut themselves when they can just destroy other things.

A couple of years ago, I vented my frustration by smashing the old, rotting junk in the garage. I would take one of the unused things there, like an old broken TV or cassette player, and just whack it with a sledgehammer as hard as I could until I felt better. Seeing all the broken pieces of glass and fragments of twisted steel from the destroyed machines never failed to help me feel better. A fire also helps. I'd make a fire, gather annoying pests from around the house, and toss them into the flames and watch them turn into ash. Or I'd get a bottle of alcohol and make a burning trail into an anthill.

Occasionally, if I was frustrated but wasn't feeling too destructive, I'd just grab my sword and cut tree branches, sprigs of bush that stuck out, weeds, and wild flowers. I didn't do that very much since the sword was real and very expensive though.
