^ The artist/creator wanted the ecchi to be like that and beside it is in the manga too.

Sex sells and so does ecchi :/ the more ecchi the more people buy the marketing items thus making a profit. I feel this summer lineup was filled with disappointments as all the good shows ended latest of spring. (EX : Drrr) .

Ah :/ 2D boobs are nice huh :] .

summer was really good we have.

Omg, i watched "qwaser" and "kissxsis" and it was horrible. Totally wasted my time there. But yeah, too much ecchi, it's not really worth it. you know. But, i'm pretty sure a lot of people like it, so it's up to them. I'm not a fan, but if it's hot anime guys, then hooray.

Quite frankly its getting boring and annoying to me too,but I honestly enjoy ecchi when its funny and/or make scenes pretty interesting, which is most of the time for me. Sometimes though its too much for me like in episode 4 of KissXsis(stopped watching it for awhile after that. Got back in to it, but then I saw episode 8).

I got used to it (but not totally) awhile ago , heck it even got to the point where I'm not sexually aroused by it most of the time. Namely, when Lucy in Eflen Lied was naked ; I wasn't disturbed by it ....well a lot of the show didn't disturb me - only a bit .

The only ecchi anime that I think deserves any ridicule would be Seikon No Qwaser. Yes that show was garbage...but it focused heavily on ecchi. Tho it did a bad job of that too.

But anyway.....take Ichiban No Ushiro No Daimaou for example.......and Im also agreeing with NoBreyner on this......that show was so damn rushed that the anime practically sucked.....but you know what was enjoyable? The ecchi scenes. The ecchi/comedy scenes made that anime enjoyable. So right off the bat ecchi gave that show a much needed boost.

Shows like Kiss X Sis are totally pure ecchi....so complaining about it being ecchi would just be stupid.

And about all these shows with Ecchi.....take Highschool of the Dead for example....everytime it showed an ecchi scene.....it did not make you question what was going on during that particular scene. This is how I determine whether ecchi scenes are bad or not. (First off I love all ecchi scenes but Ill show an unbiased point of view here). If an ecchi scene makes you unable to tell what just happened in that scene....then you can say its unnecessary.....however if you can tell what happened....than it is not. I can guarantee you practically 95% of all the ecchi scenes anyone has ever seen in their life was able to tell what was going on in that scene. Think about it....if the ecchi scene wasnt there....it would just show you something you already know just happened.....so the only conclusion left is that the ecchi adds the flavor to the show.

If an ecchi scene lasted say....about a good 5 seconds in Highschool of the dead..... and it showed the character running....and it only showed you her underwear and nothing above the waist....and that particular character was hacking slashing zombies.....then you would not be able to tell how the hacking/slashing was going on and then that could be called a bad ecchi scene due to you having no idea how something went down. But since practically no animes that show ecchi scenes make you question what just happened.....then its pointless.

Another Example. If Girl A punched Girl B.....and Girl B lands against the wall.....but then it shows a panty shot......that is not a bad ecchi shot....due to how you know what just happened....plus....the next scene will most likely show her facial expression if thats what you were after....so the ecchi scene simply added a flavor.

Bottom line is this. If you are able to tell what just happened during your hated ecchi scene......then its not a bad ecchi scene.......if you COULD NOT tell what just happened....then its a bad scene

Also...saying a show shouldnt be good due to it being ecchi is the thing thats illogical here. Action/Comedy/Romance......are all genre's that attract people.....and guess what? Ecchi is one too....its on the same level as all the other genre's of anime. Saying one isn't as good as the other is the illogical thing here

Also.....shows like Mitsudomoe and Seitokai Yakuindomo are EXCELLENT examples of why ecchi can be just great. Sure the ecchi that most people hate are the physical showing of the ecchi.....but the dialogue of ecchi can be pretty amazing. Chu-Bra was a physical ecchi anime....and that wasnt so bad.....wasnt bad because of the ecchi, thats for sure

And to actually answer the question. Ecchi sells.;......this is like a fundamental rule

I noticed that the summer lineup was primarily occult/horror or ecchi/harem...with HSOTD being the bridge that managed to do both. I'm really not a fan of characters that are over-sexualized. That sort of thing tends to ruin a viewing for me because I feel like I'm watching something just to be perverted. Things that have it every now and again in light forms are okay because those situations CAN add to the show and they CAN be hilarious. But when the only thing a show has going for it is boobs, there's something wrong.

I think it's funny that HSOTD is heavily referenced on this forum, since it's about the only thing that could be called "ecchi" that I've seen. It's also a good example of when ecchi crosses the line for me, I suppose.

Earlier in the series, especially during action scenes, panty shots almost seemed natural because the girls were wearing short skirts and engaging in intense combat. Other scenes, particularly with the nurse, were funny to me because they were overdone without being explicit. If someone walked in while I was watching the first episode and watched it with me for 15 seconds, their impression would be "Oh, this show is kinda perverted, but it's clearly an action/horror show."

During the last part of episode 4, if someone walked in and watched 15 seconds, they would undoubtedly think I was watching porn. That was where it crossed the line for me. When someone can no longer distinguish what I'm watching from porn, the ecchi is too much, imo. But I can understand where other people enjoy it.

I don't hate ecchi anime but seeing it over and over again does get really tiring.
I can drop animes if they have some ecchi in them, but I don't for whatever reason.
Highschool of the dead is better without the ecchi in it I think.

i kinda feel the same way... lately, anime that comes out has alot of ecchi scenes.. must be because of summer or summer ending
i dont really mind but ecchi anime to check out has been piling up... need more anime that is psychological, romance, slice of life or
guns vs guns like golgo 13 or black lagoon

I still like ecchi, but there is the context to consider when watching a series. Daimao was a (I wonder what she's going to do with that Sea Cucumber?) and the story was NOT a draw of the series. I don't think HSotD is perverted at all, the action is the biggest draw, but not so clever camera angles do the rest.

I don't think you understood my post. I said it was only illogical if the show has nothing else going for it than necked scenes and breast, there should be other elements in the show as well to attract the viewer. Even if the show is all about ecchi, there at least should be other aspects.

I find it all incredibly distasteful. In my opinion it can ruin an otherwise good series. There is plenty of anime out there without a hint of ecchi elements and its sad to say but I often find those the most refreshing. Sad because it is so different from the average. Often times the anime starts with 2 or 3 ecchi episodes, then normalizes out as the series progresses. It is in those I find some hope. Others like HSOTD and Seikon No Qwaser I didn't even give a second episode(Or past the first scene in Qwaser).

One of the few ecchi anime that I enjoyed in the end is Strike Witches. The first episode is hard to get through, but after its over the anime got really good. The second season is still a little rough but I'm hoping it levels out too. Its challenging to sift through the trash to find the piece of goodness. Often its not worth it.

It wasn't a matter of understanding your post. He was just voicing his opinion on ecchi in anime and how it's the only aspect of some anime that picks up failed shows like Qwaser and Daimao.

He wasn't directly referring to the opening post other than using a reference or two from that post. I generally share his views on ecchi and anime, and their place in them. It really is a shame when people refuse to give a series a shot because underwear offends them. High School of the Dead is a great show with or without panty shots, I just prefer them there. Lightens up the dark aspects some, doesn't need to be all doom and gloom from the viewers perspective.
