Chitaka wrote: Thanks Knightofmana, nice to have some back up. Des85, what is Taiga from? XD She looks like a little kid version of Ryoko Ookami from Ookami-san to Shicinin no Nakama-tachi I got this one: Taiga is from Toradora- Winter 2008 ![]() And of course Ryoko from Ookami-san to Shicinin no Nakama-tachi is this current Summer 2010 ![]() My first impression was she looked (and consequently acts) similar to Taiga, but I did like Toradora and i'm liking Ookami-san to Shicinin no Nakama-tachi. Though I dont have a "Prettiest" per sa, Ryoko would probubly make the top 10 list. |

MissMauiJulia : Jesus Christ! Your reasons for twisting everything I say are what exactly?! First of all I NEVER said Shakespeare wrote in Old English, hence the fact they were seprate sentances and he was lumped with Dr.Suess and if anybody thought Dr.Seuss wrote in Old English they'd have to be slapped with a salmon. Second I never said that my explanations were how YOU have to use the words and you seem to be extremely self centered and think that when I say "society normally uses and interprets them that way" that society means you, which it does not. I never said anybody HAS to use or interpret it the same way, I personally could care as long as it gets the meaning across without sounding weird (such as a cut of steak being cute). Nor did I ever say you CANNOT call a baby attractive, I simply said most people would find it strange. Third, you seem to think that the explanations I gave are the ONLY ways I'm saying in which to use the words, which is not true, I simply gave examples. I simply meant to exemplify the fact that those words are in fact different/often interpreted differently. Fourth and last: If you dont like my example of authors fine, think about all of our online lingo, somebody had to make those words up, and we continue to fairly constantly and most people do in fact know what they mean. It doesn't have to be in a dictionary for people to know what they mean, it just has to be popular. All slang terms are just made up by average people and other people know what they mean. And just to cover my bases incase you're going to say that those don't count since they're not in the dictionary: You know how in todays day in age people take and use gay to mean homosexual? Well years ago (you obviously know this given you're older than me) it only meant "happy", somebody made up their own meaning for it and people understand what they mean a guess what, it's in the dictionary. Oh wait, In that example they only changed the meaning not made up a word? Ok well how about this, see all these words we're using right now that all of us understand that are in the dictionary? Well guess what, a long long long time ago, they were all made up by regular people! So don't even tell me that people other than authors can't make up words.
To the poster above me: is Toradora itself anything like Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakama-tachi? |

Click to show or hide MissMauiJulia wrote: Chitaka wrote: MissMauiJulia wrote: magicuser360 wrote: There's a difference between being "attractive", "pretty", "cute", and "beautiful." I don't really see how, since they all pretty much mean the same thing: Another person likes the way you look. Attractive is when you find somebody appealing for a potential partner (ex. a straight girl would not find another girl attractive, she might find her pretty (as in here), beautiful or maybe even cute depending on the context, but not attractive. A straight guy would be attracted to a girl who's attractive but he could think a girl is pretty without finding her attractive.) Pretty is like I said in my original post, not attractive, not sexy, just pretty like art or fireworks or a fancy dress, you're not sexually attracted to a dress, therefore its pretty or beautiful but not attractive, or somebody's hair can look pretty, you wouldn't usually describe hair as attractive. Cute can mean attractive, but not always. It usually means ur describing something like a baby animal, or something with kitty ears or big eyes or something thats fuzzy or having an appearance of a small child (normal people dont find them attractive, they find them cute, pretty, possibly beautiful. How many times have u walked up to someone holding a newborn baby and said to them "Your baby is so attractive" they'd think you're nuts) Beautiful is just a higher more intensified version of pretty just as sexy is an intensified version of attractive. Those may be your definition or explanation of what pretty, attractive, cute and beautiful mean but it may not be the same for other people. As people have different ideas as to what they find appealing to them. Look up any of the four words in a dictionary and they'll usually be synonyms with this term: "Pleasing or attractive to the eye." In order words, the a person likes the way another person looks. Attractive doesn't always have the same meaning in terms of looks or arousal. Attractive generally means "having the quality of attracting." It could mean that a person can have an attractive personality or an an attractive mind or anything which may have an attraction towards you. Whatever it may mean is usually up to the person using the term at the time. That's why it's usually not correct to come up with your own meaning for these words, especially when another person has to interpret what it may fully mean for themselves and for other people. Chikata's definitions are very close except sexy for what i use to define those terms. Dictionaries largely fail at expressions and forms of human emotions, understanding and feeling. Anyway , the prettiest girl in anime to me: Feldt from Gundam 00 after timeskip There are very different characters i would choose for the traits cute and sexy Well as I said before, because you both use it the same way doesn't mean others use it the same way. But it's not like you would have gotten than explanation by reading what I originally put down. Again, a dictionary is not suppose to tell you how to use words in form of human emotions and expressions. That would be too easy. It's suppose to give you the word, definition and an example of it's usage in a sentence. You -- the individual -- is suppose to figure out how you're suppose to use it for yourself. no i agree with you. i just mistook some things you said. in that post i just meant dictionaries a bad source a stuff like because they simplify billions of different humans's ideas into a few sentences i just didn't word it well enough. There is a different view by every person likely . for example even though Chitaka's and my views are close i disagree with her interpretation of sexy so we don't match up even though we are close. i don't think our views on how people figure out what the definition mean to them is all that different. i just mistook what you were trying to say I still would not put Feldt up on a sexiest or cutest anime girl topic though because i don't believe she is since i interpret them as different things even if others don't Well in the end it's only the person receiving the message who has to interpretative for themselves. As I said in the beginning, there is no difference between any of the words. They all mean the same thing: Another person likes the way you look. But apparent I have to use the term cute with babies and children and not attractive or pretty. And I have to use the term beautiful when describing objects not cute or pretty. Pretty much nonsense like that. It's all stupid anyway because what I deem cute might be different for another. You madam are trolling hard.......... |
