No mention of how he feels about Vis removing all the blood, language and some scenes they feel are not appropriate for American audiences. I wonder how the creators feel about them messing up their show.

Care to show any example of blood or scenes removed from any of the episodes shown here on CR that were present in the same episode when aired on TV in Japan? Note I left out language, since unless you can understand and translate Japanese yourself, all you could really show us is a difference in translations. Missing blood or scenes is not subjective, so it should be easy for you to provide concrete evidence. |

There's enough blood and violence in these CR episodes, any more and it'd be over-the-top. But who am I to talk, I love Warhammer 40k. |

Vis is famous for removing footage from shows and looping video to fill up the extra time. And for removing blood or violent scenes. I have seen it in many other shows including Naruto. I have not rewatched the Vis dubbed episodes for American TV since I noticed the removed footage in pretty much every other Vis project. I don't think these subbed versions are edited from the original (aside from removing all profanity) but I expect it for the dubbed release on US TV. I don't understand why they change the script for us anyway.

I don't understand why they change the script for us anyway. Shows for TV have a long history of being edited, and I am not just talking anime. This isn't unique to the U.S., either, as there are plenty of animes that are censored for broadcast in Japan, and the uncensored version is only done on DVD. (Frankly, I suspect much of the censoring in more recent history isn't necessarily to meet broadcast standards so much as to juice DVD sales). If Viz is handling the actual editing (and for blood removal at least, they probably are), you can bet it is to meet the standards the Cartoon Network outlined. If CN was fine with showing the unedited version, I have no doubt Viz would have no problem with doing less work. That said, I know back when TechTV was still around, they actually handled the editing for time and content for "Anime Unleashed" in house, so this could be the case with CN, as well. |
