Soundtracks should add to the drama without overshadowing them so a good soundtrack will enhance the viewing experience but obviously if the story sucks it won`t make a lot of difference...

i was about to say the same thing when i read your response. but just to add.. i've seen a movie that seemed really dragging because there weren't so many songs that could have given emphasis on particular scenes. (i'll post it when i remember the title of the movie).
music can entice the audience, but it's the story that keeps them captivated until the end.

in the philippines, whenever they dub a kdrama, they sometimes insert songs sung by filipino artists. and it actually helped bring out the scene more. i guess since we can relate more to the lyrics and not just the melody. call it localization.

i think the soundtrack actually affect the impact of a drama. like in ISWAK, hana yori dango, Goong and MISA. it can captivate your heart.

It definitely plays a big part. I love the soundtrack to Snow Queen. Even though it's been a while since I've seen it, if I hear the music I start remembering all the scenes associated with the song. I think the soundtrack can be very powerful, if it's done well.

I admit, I wasn't used to asian drama soundtracks at first. When I watched my first series, Love Story in Harvard, I was SO tired of hearing that "spring summer fall and winter" song I almost stopped watching the series all together. Of course, now if I think of that song, I kind of like it. It just took some getting used to...hearing the same song 3 dozen times in one series.

I have some big favorites now though.

Coffee Prince - Especially love Azure Ray and Adult Child's songs
Snow Queen - loveholic...great music
Kim Sam Soon -LOVE the opening theme, and all the piano music
My Girl- Never Say Goodbye rocks my socks
Goong- all of that soundtrack is great

I have more, but I think those are my absolute faves. :)

4 me sountrack is very important n it`s like 40% which affects my overall impression after watchin drama/movie let me show u some examples..
"a love to kill" overall drama maybe is not that fabiylous n for some viewers it can be even boring...but soundrack covers all boring moments in this drama. i absolutely love "sad tango" (drama`s opening) n LeeSooJoung`s song "a love to kill" r absolutely unforgetable..
next drama is well known hyd2 sorry but without "planetarium" by a.otsuka n "wish" by arashi this drama would loose in overall impression..
hmm..which drama next...
lot of u on other threads wrote that they could not finish "over the rainbow" -drama i`ve also watched that drama n even tho it was boring from time to time i still remember song "tomorrow" by Hwan Hee ^_______^
how bout kurosagi n yamapi`s song "daite seniorita" sorry but somehow i just cant imagine this drama without that song same as gokusen 2 without Kame`s "kizuna" or dragon zakura without yamapi`s "colorful"

dunt u think that good soundtrack make drama more interesting during watchin it n after that every time u hear this one particular song or theme from drama/movie u can recall pieces of the plot? 4 me good soundtrack can help drama/movie be succesful.

In my opinion, it affects it ALOT. If the soundtrack isn't good, then I wouldn't watch it at all. In ISWAK, when I started watching it, I was hesitant because I didn't like the theme song and thought it was abonoxious. [Too me.]

i agree, if the soundtrack is to be use in a drama repeatedly, it should be a good one otherwise audiences will just be bore with it and that will appect the way they feel about the drama as well to a certain extend.

I find it the other way round. If the drama success, then the soundtrack will be a hit too.

i agree with this cause if the soundtrack is nice...it helps the drama itself...

like the drama Silence - the theme song by vic zhou is really good...^_^

I completely agree with this, music is a major part of the drama's success, how can u watch a drama without any music, there would be no real feelings' into the scenes!
