Yeah they take away your spirit I think its a part of who you are and should never be medicated except for emergencies when control is out of the question without them.

I had ADHD growing up but I was never really on medication for it. It never really hampered me though, so there wasn't a need for me to be on medication. I think it's entirely possible to live with ADHD without any medication.

the reason there is a rise in adhd is becuase they expanded the diagnoses of what adhd and how some suffers from it. So of course there is going to be a rise in cases with people suffering from the condition.

I deal with it using my unlimited source of ritalin.

I'm not on medications. But um, I understand how you guys feel. It's extremely frustrating for me, I really can't pay attention. My friends usually don't believe me, they think I'm lying or something, but I can't pay attention. I never pay attention in class, even if I try, i tend to space out, even my teachers noticed. Thats why i try my best to take notes, so that i could read over it later, but im a bad note taker though lol. During basketball practice, I can't even pay attention to my own coach.. I can't pay attention to me own teammates! It's like my brain is always jumbled up, it's a mess. I can't read either, like it's hard for me to actually read something, I'm not illiterate lol, it's just hard, I can't explain it. I can't even follow a conversation, even on the phone, I just can't follow it. My friends always joke about me not paying attention, but I don't do it on purpose, but whatever. Also, I am the one of the most unorganized girl you'll ever meet. I can't stay organized, no matter how hard I try. My bed's never made, I stuff flyaway papers into my binders, my closet looks like a monster, etc. Maybe I'm just naturally messy, I dunno, but I try to be organize, but it never lasts.
As for the hyperactivity part, the only thing hyperactive about me is the fact that I always shake my legs when I'm softly down. It's like anbig habit of mine, so I dunno if it's serious. It gets quite annoying to my friends lol. Also, I can't sit still sometimes, although I have no problem with this during school, I can't stay still when I'm at other places, like at home. When I'm sitting down, I have to walk or even jump. I would often run around in my room and jump on my bed on a whim, my mom always scold me for this though..
I'm not impulsive though, the only thing impulsive about me is the fact that I'm extremely impatient, but that's it.

I don't have ADHD, but I do have ADD. I had ritalin for a couple of months when I was a small child, but I stopped getting it when my parents found out that I would give it out to all the other kids. I started doing athletics after that, which I found allowed me to concentrate better.

My family calls it a learning disability instead of disorder , it doesn't stop anyone from learning just slows us down a little.
Most people with these sort of things have some of the highest IQ's we just don't know how to properly use our brain power.
I doodle while i listen in class and color coded organizing works very well.
Yes doctors may give some cases medicine but the rest is up to the person to focus. Also, most commonly, when someone has ADD or ADHD, they will also have another learning disability like dyslexia or something similar as well so giving something to help focus will help them in the long run.
Caffeine helps a lot because its a stimulant which allows a person to focus and does not make them hyper, but it kills sleep so don't abuse it. Sugar on the other hand has to do with sugar/blood levels and it shouldn't affect focusing all that much.

I hope this is helpful

EDIT:

And meds dont kill your personality i knew several ppl w or w/o it and it doesnt change who u r just a smidgen clamer, and its illegal to give to other ppl so... yea
