There is bound to be a topic which is either similar or the same as this i'm sure. IF there is i apologise. But hey ho.

Anyone else here played any visual novels? OR better yet, can anyone here recommend to me any translated visual novels.

So far i've only played Fate Stay Night, and Tsukehime. If anyone can recommend any good english novels it'd be great.

I played Fate/Stay Night, bu the other ones couldn't interest me, sorry. I enjoy reading, but reading just for "moar h3nta1 pics" isn't my type. Fate/stay night had an awesome gameplay.

Try Cosplay Fetish Academy...It's english...

I would recommend Ever 17 but it's been out of print for a couple years now.

I'd also second the Ever 17 recommendation, it takes advantage of being a visual novel in a way that no other game (i know of) has.

As far as availability goes...
True Remembrance is a very good, non-hentai, well-translated, legally free visual novel which is download-able at http://trueremembrance.insani.org/get.html (but don't expect any action) :p

I've read/played quite a lot of visual novels... though Ever 17, Fate/stay Night, True Remembrance and Planetarian is my absolute favorites so far.
If the rest of Little Busters is as good as what I've read so far, it might join the list as well, once it's completely translated :p

Other worthy mentions might be: KiraKira (VN about a rock band! got some nice soundtrack :3 ), Utawarerumono, Chaos;Head, Narcissu (another insani free VN) and Act 1 of Katawa Shoujo (incomplete English-made VN).

I'd also include Phantom of Inferno, the plot really is good, but the translation really is horrible in this awful stand-alone dvd thing, that is both frustrating and buggy to use...

There probably is a whole lot of others, but i think you got more than enough titles to check for now xD

You might wanna take a look at the Visual Novel Database ( http://vndb.org/ ), and see if you spot anything else you might like, along with links to the English publishers.

Chaos;Head, Katawa Shoujo (Original english VN, still in development, but Act 1 has been released), Brass Restoration, Yume something something... (A Drug That Makes You Dream), KiraKira, Edelweiss, Kanon. These are all excellent Visual Novels.

A new DS VN/Adventure game is going to be released soon, it's the same scenario writer as Ever 17 and it could lead to more English translated VN releases in the future if it sells well, including a possible Steins;Gate release, buy it.
There's a flash demo version on the website, of course it's not the same as the full game.

I think you may be able to import it, DS Lite at least is region free, so I'm assuming all DS consoles are region free. It seems like it may even be a game that amazon will ship internationally.

999 sounds like a serious story, and it's not about relationships. If that's what you like, then you might also be interested in The Chaos Gateway, which is on Xbox Live Arcade's Indie Games section.

Here's some worksafe visual novels in English that I've liked:

* There's some good stories on the Ren'ai Archive at http://www.renai.us . All content on the site is created by English speaking fans, will work on Windows PCs (sometimes also Mac/Linux), and most of it is worksafe and free. Just keep in mind that Sturgeon's Law ("ninety percent of everything is crud") definitely applies! But let me mention some highlights... 1) "RE: Alistair" is a rather charming, and very girly simple dating simulation. 2) "Autumn" was a relaxing branching story. 3) "Daemonophilia" is a story that talks about sex without showing anything explicit. 4) "Heikou" is an interesting riff on the little known Squaresoft game Radical Dreamers.

* Be sure to browse the Altogether section of Insani at http://altogether.insani.org . If you haven't read at least a few of these mostly worksafe, freeware visual novels, then you need to do so. "A Midsummer Day's Resonance" is one of my favorites, as it manages to be a unique and moving story, and it convinced me that VNs could be interesting without adult content. "Panda Samurai" was very silly. And "My Black Cat" is amusing as well as thoughtful.

* For several years, Hanako Games ( http://www.hanakogames.com ) has been selling girl-oriented games, including a few visual novels. "The Flower Shop" was one of my favorites this year -- I enjoyed the writing, art, and gameplay. And a simplified version is available on iTunes. "Spirited Heart" is one of my current favorite raising simulations -- it's not easy, but I liked the art, and I found the gameplay fascinating.

I strongly recommend Tasogare no Sinsemia (a.k.a Sinsemilla of the Twilight).

Official site
http://www.applique-soft.com/sin/index.html

Opening movie

I finished this game about a week ago and I think this is a best brother/younger sister incest love story ever.
But this is not porn type eroge but this is an eroge of type effected by context.
(don't worry, this game's all erotic scenes are properly erotic )

this story is based on Japanese local romance from ancient and the amount of text is enormous.
So this game has flowchart system. you can understand divergences of story visually.

Well, I believe this becomes an anime series in the near future. this game is much better than Yosuga as a story.

Jast USA is planning on releasing Eien no Aselia, it's the all ages version with expanded content and generally considered the best version of the game. It also has some actual rpg style gameplay aspects for the people who are looking for that too.

I'm only just starting to get into visual novels. My first completed was Ever17, which was fantastic. My first that I tried was Umineko, but I got bored of it so I just watched the anime (before anyone brings anything up I know I ruined it for myself, I plan to try it again at some point.) I've also read 999, Remember11, Saya no Uta and the Phoenix Wright titles.

Saya no Uta was my most recent completion. Really screwed up but I still enjoyed it. Great music.

Currently playing through Chaos;Head in preperation for the Steins;Gate anime. It's been... interesting so far. Although the main character is quite unlikable.
