I don't see how he can further protect his daughter now behind bars. There is a good chance the stepson will heal up and vindicate himself upon the 6 year old countless times now that there is no protection for her. And even worse, the dad has prior felony charges, so it's likely a judge won't rule in his favor either. Talk about a vicious cycle of f'ed up

I don't believe the father did the right thing, however for the police to let the son out with bonds didn't help the situation either. firstly, what is taught to the teen when your mom bails you out for raping a 8 year old girl? you don't get any kind of legal punishment for your acts and the system fails to hand out justice since it wasn't even given the chance to work out a fitting sentence (ok it might not work all that great to begin with but certainly not at all when you avoid it) and if you don't think you'll suffer the consequences for your crimes then why stopping it at rape of minors? now, in the best case, the teen is forever scared of ever trying anything slightly illegal ever again... or he's gonna be filled up with hate and take it out on the world instead... unfortunately i think the second option is more likely to happen so then we have yet another troubled and potentially dangerous teen on our hands... then the father has just worsened the situation with his decision to hand out his own ideal punishment to the son, however justified it might seem to be because of the son's actions hateful acts will just give birth to more hate, i'm not saying i wouldn't be feeling as the father if this were to happen to any future child of mine but i want to believe in justice and that the system we have will succeed to provide proper punishment, i also haven't been given a reason to believe that the system will fail on a personal basis but if it fails, then let the hate fuel your work to make a better system instead of taking out your own acts of revenge and looking from the girls point of view... is it more beneficial to have her father sent to jail for taking the law in his own hands? or to have him there to love and support her as she processes and hopefully gets over the rape?
