Yeah kinda XD It was my first day at school and it was my 3rd hour English. The teacher says "We have a new Student her name is Sophia" They are like where is she? I wave and such and my teacher looks at my name on the roster sheet thing and says "Is that really your last name?" I say yes and the class says "Whats her last name?" and she says Italia (Obviously its an Italian last name) and this dumb redneck kid (Im not stereotyping him hes really like that) says "Do you like Spaghetti?" and im like "Well, yes..... I like all pasta" "can you cook?" I say "No not really"and he said "you cant cook AND ur not smokin hott..... you cant possibly be italian.... FAKE! Go back to your fake italy where u belong" That made me soooooo mad, I hated that class :fury:

But is it really sterotyping a person when they are the stereotype?

nope .. people don't stereotype me because of my color .. but because of my looks

Yes, I extremely hate it.

I especially hate it when my family stereotypes on our own race just because "its okay, we're Spanish!" or worse - they stereotype on another race because "other races do the same thing." If I get upset they ask me, "you think they don't talk about us?"

If I had the courage, I'd answer them and tell them, "The smart ones don't talk about us in this way. For the ones who do talk about "us" why should I care what they think or say?"

Wow, who doesn't? :?

People who do that.Don't know what they are talking about at that moment. They might think back
later and be like whaaat..

Because people are from certain countries.Doesn't mean anything at all.

Example: My friend's dad he is Puerto Rican. He is Muslim. So someone goes to him.
So you're from there...how can you be Muslim..

Seriously..I don't know why.People should think before they ask.If you don't know about a certain culture
than ask the person who you just met.Get information...Don't assume things right away.

People need to stop going to people and saying oh Your Chinese..when the person could be Korean.
Ask the person where they are from.... simple.

I don't like it when people call others black or white or yellow. They are colors.People don't look like that.
Instead of judging people by their skin color.Just look at them because they are human beings just like you and me.

Yes. I’m a white girl, blond and I have blue eyes (all natural). People think I’m stupid.
My new English teacher on our first lesson with her sat down next to me and started talking to me like if my English was on 2 grade level, I felt very offended. So I told her off in the most advanced English I could; it resulted in her imitating a fish. (F-you Mary N ) Now she asks me for advices

Stereotyping is wrong! Don’t pass judgement on others before you get to know them.
It is inevitable that we have first impressions (since it is part of our human perception; hair, clothes, skin colour, accent etc, anything that our senses can pick up.) but those should not be analyzed and no conclusions should be drawn by judgement and prejudice.

I absolutely agree with you stereotyping is wrong.People do judge by first impressions.
Just like that saying goes,Don't judge a book by it's cover. That is so true.

People can think so many things. But we will never fully understand.

Don't call him dumb.He just needs to think before he speaks. What a rude thing he said to you.
The thing is it takes time for people to understand. When they grow out of that.It takes time.
Eventually as anyone ages they mature.People need to open their minds more.Think outside the box not in.

I don't think this is a stereotype, but people always tell me Mexicans and Puerto Ricans are the same. Um, we are not the same. =.=

I don't really get offended by that stuff because I am so used to it here in NY. I am white and I usually am just stereotyped as an otaku or something. So what if I like Asian stuff? Asians are great!

Yeah. It doesn't bother me though since people who believe in the stereotypes are stupid. What I dislike mostly is color labeling.
