One thing I hate about being muslim is that I can't eat pork. Everyone always bugs me about it and I have to watch what I eat. And I hate how people say your not a real muslim. Then half these people wouldn't be real anything. Most people arn't supposed to cuss, but they do it anyway. I don't pray, well I do sometimes and I don't fast. If I'm not a "real" muslim, then I really do not care. If I die, where would I go? the not "real" muslim heaven? I see it as this way, as long as you belive in something, and you follow the rules, ex: muslims can't eat pork, then you should be one.

I sorta see where you're coming from. I don't think anyone should be compelled to do anything in Islam. When you come down to it, Islam isn't about the fasting or praying and the rules, it's first and foremost making the connection with god and trying to be a good human. I think once you've made the connection, you're willing to sacrifice some things in this life for the hereafter.

I'm glad someone understands me. I had someone tell me that i wasn't a Muslim b/c I didn't pray.. and such. And I try to be a good person, and your right about everything you said -)

yeah lazy, i had this one girl who brought a carpet to school and would pray on it... hard core muslims like that scare me (>___<);

Oh please, would you stop with all this 'hard-core' muslim crap. Praying is one of the 5 pillars of Islam. It's not hard-core anything, it's simply doing one of the 5 basic things as a Muslim.

Its pretty hardcore to have a mat with you all the time. Like almost as hardcore as I am but not

How hardcore are you? o.O

about that much

Damn that is hardcore

The Muslim population is 1.5 billion, close to 1.6, not 1.4. And if your trying to convince some ignorant asshole that all Muslims are not terrorist, it'll take much more than this. Islam will become the dominant world religion, and the number of Muslims will surpass that of Christians. Anyone who thinks Muslims are a small minority is fucking retarded. And NO, I am not Muslim.

She doesn't have it with her all the time. She just brought the mat to school to pray on so she wouldn't have to put her forehead and some dirty floor that people have walked on.

Oh I am so sorry I thought your name was Riodarra but it must be n_n303 since she was the one who knew that girl and obviously you must be he since you know the exact person she I mean you was talking about

Ever heard of something called grammar?
And dude, it's extremely common for a muslim to take a PRAYER mat with them... That's what they're used for, just in case you didn't know.

Thanks for bringing Alevi to my attention. For those interested:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alevi

The ceremony (âyîn-i cem, or simply cem) features music and dance (semah), which symbolize the putting off of one’s self and uniting with God. In Alevism, men and women are regarded as equals, and pray side by side.

Key Alevi principles include:

* Love and respect for all people (“The important thing is not religion, but being a human being.”)
* Tolerance towards other religions and ethnic groups (“If you hurt another person, the ritual prayers you have done are counted as worthless.”)
* Respect for working people ("The greatest act of worship is to work”)

Some consider Alevism a type of Shi'a Islam (and specifically, of Ithna-'Ashariyya with the Zaydi qualification), since Alevis accept Shi'i beliefs about Imam Ali and the Twelve Imams. Many Alevi, however, are uncomfortable describing themselves as Shi'i, since there are major differences in philosophy, customs, and rituals from the form of Shi'ism prevailing in modern Iran.

Alevism is also closely related to the Bektashi Sufi lineage, in the sense that both venerate Hajji Bektash Wali (Hacibektaş Veli), a saint of the 13th century. Many Alevis refer to an "Alevi-Bektashi" tradition, but this identity is not universally accepted, nor is the combined name used by non-Turkish Bektashis (e.g., in the Balkans).

So note here that this already indicates a certain "reformist" version of Islam. Music and dancing violates core Islam, especially in some sort of worship ceremony.

In Turkey, Attaturk was credited with modernizing Islam by outright outlawing a number of "conservative" Islamic religious practices. Here's a quote from him:

On March 1, 1924, at the Assembly, Mustafa Kemal said "the religion of Islam will be elevated if it will cease to be a political instrument, as had been the case in the past."[44]
...
Mustafa Kemal changed the classical Islamic education with a vigorously promoted reconstruction of educational institutions along the line of an enlightened pragmatism.[62]
...
The pre-Islamic culture of the Turks became the subject of extensive research, and particular emphasis was laid upon the fact that, long before the Seljuk and Ottoman civilizations, the Turks have had a rich culture.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attaturk

So Turkey is a perfect example of how Islam can be systematically reformed. Of course the "conservative" Muslims didn't like it and did get violent at times.

Personally I tend to respect people who believe in some sort of religion rather than "whatever I want to do right now," and Islam does have a number of positive effects on people, however Islam is generating more militants than other religions are. Basically the radical Muslims tend to be more violent than the radical members of other religions. When was the last time you heard of Buddhists, for example, calling for Buddhist jihad? Some Buddhists may be violent but practically none of them are trying to actually use Buddhism to justify their violence.

Islam isn't going away. Something over a billion people are Muslim. Catholics in the dark ages used to be pretty crazy. If they can get out of the dark ages then others can too.

muslims are kind of matapang..but very faithful in thre religion.

The problem is that "Atheism" isn't really a religion because it has no doctrine other than "there's no God" or something. Most people "converting" to Atheism actually do have some sort of "religion" by virtue of the fact that they do have irrational beliefs which are not supported by good factual evidence. The actual religion, I fear, is probably usually Annihilationism, not in the Christian sense, but in the sense that there is no next life and that actions in the current life don't matter as long as you can get away with them.

How does the feelings of Capnoawesome affect any of his statistics which were all cited ? Hmmmmmmmmmm? Sure he hates religion but those are true stats. Good Game

Oh wow, he somehow got stats out of nowhere and made a video about it!
I think I see your problem. You need credible stats from credible sources and linking to them would be nice. CapnO didn't do any of this, he just gave a bunch of bull.

True, it did begin in the east, but moved on to predominantly remain in the west. It does, undeniably, have eastern roots, but focuses more on western philosophy.

See my above post. There are links on the side of the video

Well that's lovely, but the survey was only done in the USA. Haha, hello, the new fad now is to hate on Muslims and look down upon religious people... I doubt people will be running to become Muslims.
Eh, fook it. I love you all.
I'm gonna get back to Darker than Black, and I'll let you get back to Monster.

Fasting certainly does seem to bring the family together, huh? Well, I'd rather be Muslim than Christian right now, but I don't think anyone I know would really buy it. are you a convert to islam, or where you born with it?
p.s nice way of explaining

wow..you really did your reading o.0 *Gives you a cookie* so do you know how i feel now towards other muslims that push me (>__>); and say im not a "real" muslim...

I've actually done a lot of reading on Islam but I've never met anyone who's essentially a REAL Sufi. (In the US we occasionally get "hippies" who read some book on Sufism and claim to be Sufi's, but they didn't grow up in a Sufi family and probably don't really understand it.)

Well, I don't really know how you feel because I'm not Muslim and I don't have other Muslims telling me I'm not a "real Muslim," but I've encountered those kind of accusations of other people quite a bit, especially talking to "conservative" Muslims online. So I'm pretty familiar with what you're talking about at least.

Many of these conservative Shi'a and Sunni Muslims will accuse each other of not being "real Muslims" though with Sufi's there isn't a general attitude since I think some branches of Sufis come from Shi'a (like yours) and others come from Sunni Islam. Anyway, I don't really understand these attitudes since even Sunnis and Shi'as agree that "there's no God but God and Muhammed is his prophet." Supposedly anyone who believes that is a Muslim and is going to heaven "eventually," but those who sin a lot will burn in hell longer than those who don't before going to heaven. So it seems like all any Muslim should be arguing about is who will burn in hell longer before getting to go to heaven based on what actually constitutes a sin.

(And BTW, assuming those pictures are yours then I guess you are probably kind of hot, so you shouldn't wear a bikini unless you want to burn in hell a little longer before going to heaven finally :P)
