Every character is a part of story and then is a part of my happiness.
So I don't hate them=) |

i usually hate the damsel in distress types, and every manga or anime seems to have them...sakura (naruto), orihime (bleach), kagome (inuyasha), kaoru (ruroni kenshin), yuki (vampire knight)...yeah and the list goes on and on. On the flip side my favorite characters are the really strong female characters sometimes in the same manga...Temari (naruto), Yoruichi (bleach), Sango and kikyo (inuyasha)...ect
Damsels in distress kinda push back everything feminism has done and at the same time it gets annoying to have the save the same person over and over *ahem, peach* |

i have love song by bi-rain stuck in my head....T_T so sad yet so catchy

MAKOTO ITOU. Anime's are meant to instill emotion, whether it be happiness, sadness or just laughter. School Days was the first, and by far the best anime I watched that tried to make me feel so much freaking hatred. Also, he looks like a koala to me for some reason which pisses me off.

i don't hate any of them..?
I think the hated ones are usually the ones keeping the plot going because they always challenge the good guys. oooorrrr, they make it fun if they are a bitch. (causes drama) if they are annoying, it just makes all the other characters look good. |

Thank you! Hate is a pretty strong word to use regarding animated characters that exist only in two dimensions. However, there are a few stock 'types' of characters I really wish would go away or evolve into something less irritating. The damsel-in-distress character, usually the main 'everygirl' type (as few of them are over the age of 15, they can't really be called women), is the one that irks me the most. They supposedly have some skill deemed valuable, but are always stuck playing second fiddle to the men in the story and are usually reduced to the same god-awful dialogue, which seems to consist of saying the name of the main male character in lieu of saying anything intelligent, fighting back or being useful. Orihime is the worst offender, but the others mentioned here aren't far behind. The dumb bunny female character, hapless, helpless and hopelss, should be banned, period. If I hear Orihime whimper 'Ichigo...' one more time, I may attempt to reach through the TV set and slap her silly. Which would only screw up my flatscreen, so a lessening of the annoying female lead character would really help. The cutesy animal 'plushie inspiration' has run its course. Time to kill it. Now. Please. Before another Kon is created and let loose on the anime world in filler arcs. I realize the world might stop turning if anime series don't have a conveniently cute mascot-type character to turn into backpacks/keychains/trading cards/beer mugs/hood ornaments/toilet seats/hats and other apparel... but not every series needs them. So far, Naruto seems to have avoided the trend, but that's about it. |

At this point, I'd give anything for a decent night's sleep.

So far, Naruto seems to have avoided the trend, but that's about it. well i use hate cause its a easy word that i don't really have to think much about...but you're right if i really actually took time to write my comments i would have used the word disapproval or disappointment, because that's probably closer to what it feels like. This character gets all hyped up and you can't wait to see her fight and then poof, she's just another marshmallow that melts under pressure. Or worse still is when it is obvious that a female character is weak but then the other characters in the series try to justify it or try to say that she is strong because she managed to do this small thing right, but when it comes to the male lead characters they don't need anyone to say they are strong they just beat the enemies (like in naruto, how many times have we read that sakura or that hinata are strong but when have they ever fought!!!???)...by the way so true about the yelling of the male characters name. if i remember correctly adult swim made a whole commercial for inuyasha where they just pasted together a string of clips where kagome screams out inuyasha's name, it was a very long commercial. I think Inuyasha is the worst offender of unoriginal dialogue from the damsel-in-distress's part. |
