Naturally, our first response is, No. When we are born again, the Bible says that God will give us a new heart, of his heart, therefore our spirit is of God as well. The Holy Spirit and Satan cannot and will not dwell together, because Satan is the father of Lies, while The Holy Spirit ONLY witness and testifies the truth, that searches all, even the heart of God.

We can safely conclude that spirit filled believers do not have the devil in their spirit. But behold, you are not completely safe. That's what the devil wants you to think, that you're completely sinless. Your body is not changed, neither is your soul. The soul is where your reasoning abilities of the mind take place. Reason and Logic are worldly things that help you get around in the world to guard yourself, but God says although you are in this world, you are not OF this world. God will guard everything for you, if you guard your heart and it's the Holy Spirit.

Now, your five senses and reasoning abilities are the normal people's way of absorbing information and learning. Therefore you see many unbelieving people out there, try to disprove Christianity via science <- product of man, logic <- product of body, and our body is still of flesh. It is not the heavenly body that we will have in heaven, therefore it is still vulnerable to sin and sinful behaviour.

To put it in a more 'not all our fault' position, our flesh, when Adam and Eve took the fruit from the tree of knowledge, encouraged by fall Lucifer himself, from that point onwards, both of them inherited the nature of Satan, which is selfishness. That's why, your body sometimes don't listen to your small voice of conscience in your heart. You have given the Holy Spirit no say in your life, and many a times, we use logic to get out of situations, rather than follow what your Holy Spirit says. That's when we lie a lot.

This article which I am about to quote, is to let you know that Satan can still bug you, bug you until he burns the fire of passion for God away. Don't let your passion for God diminish, it's part of Satan's ploy, neither damage your health by being overly passionate without rest.

This guy will tell you that, evil resides in your soul, as I've expounded on earlier.

Deliverance Through Repentence

I just want everyone to know that I came back by the prompting of a friend to post this article to refute the unbiblical false view that a Christian cannot have a demon.
This is so important because Christians need to be set free.
Thanks, TT

Elementary Doctrines By: Sam Soleyn
Introduction and
Repentance
http://soleyn.com/Transcription/029.html

Repentance from acts that lead to death is a way of canceling your association with the former life, with the way you used to be, so that, if the enemy in fact is resident within you—if an evil spirit has gained a foothold in you—by repenting from acts that lead to death you have now the freedom to expel that spirit and to continue to pursue your place in God. If you had learned this elementary doctrine, you wouldn’t have to defend the fact that believers may have demonic spirits living in them that are controlling their emotions in certain areas.

The evangelical church doesn’t deal with that. They say, “Well, the Holy Spirit cannot dwell in the same place where an evil spirit dwells and because, when you are a believer you have the Holy Spirit, you as a believer cannot also have a demonic spirit.” They are partially right, but the part in which they are wrong is very important. It is true that the Holy Spirit lives in you when you are saved. It is also true that the Holy Spirit and an evil spirit will not dwell in the same place. Both things are true but what is also true is that the demonic spirit does not live in you in the same place where the Holy Spirit lives, because you have a spirit, you have a soul and you have a body.
May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (I Thessalonians 5:23)

So the evil spirit does not live in your spirit, that’s the residence of the Holy Spirit. By contrast the evil spirit lives in the soul. When you discover that an evil spirit has taken control of your emotions there really is only one way to deal with it and that is: to repent… to repent. When you repent, that spirit no longer has the right to dwell in you. When you repent, you can then expel that spirit and you retake that emotion.

However, if you never learn that God has a particular purpose for you and He lives in you by His Spirit to accomplish that purpose, your whole life will be consumed with trying to please God, trying to “do enough,” trying to do the “right thing.” In that case, you will invariably come to the place, again and again, where you know you are not doing enough, and where you know that you are not doing the right thing.

When that’s so, your enemy will tempt you with the same things he tempted you with before you were a believer. When he ties the present with the past, he will manage to convince you that you really have not changed and you are not a new creation. (Fae: Yeah, that fricking liar kept whispering that to me.) When you give in to that temptation he will simply “come back” where previously he used to be and was expelled. When the house is cleaned and swept it must be occupied by the Holy Spirit, or the spirits that left will come back and they will bring more than the ones that left to secure that territory with greater permanence.

When an evil spirit comes out of a man, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says,‘I will return to the house I left.’ When it arrives, it finds the house unoccupied, swept clean and put in order. Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that man is worse than the first. That is how it will be with this wicked generation. (Matthew 12:43-45)

If you had been taught from the beginning that you can and should repent from acts that lead to death, you would have always known that Christians can have demon spirits living in their souls. You would also have known that by repenting of that control, that area of sin in your life, that you could get rid of the demons. Deliverance would not be somebody’s special ministry, deliverance would be what people do all the time for themselves and for one another, so that the body of Christ would walk in the freedom and the peace of hearing God and operating in the Spirit.

It is not a shame to have a demon living in you. “It is only a shame,” as someone said, “to have a demon living in you that you won’t get rid of.” People want you to believe that this is such a huge religious thing. It is an elementary thing; it’s a very basic thing. We’ve begun with the first of the six elementary doctrines: repentance from acts that lead to death. When you do that, you cancel the right of your enemy to operate in your life. When you do that, you acknowledge that God has a particular purpose for you and you are here to live out that purpose.

That is why, after exorcism, or driving demons out of a possessed. It is very important to fill that void with the Holy Spirit and get them saved, because leaving it empty would be an empty house for evil spirits to return.

Both ways.

^ For that post above, I was referring to those spirit filled Christians, and not non-believers.

The sinful one works better on non-belivers. Sinless one is better for believers. Why? Then believers slowly get self-righteous, and believe that they are 'better off' than the others. ''I didn't get saved much, cos I walked better in God's commandments'' - > pride, and falling from grace, cos grace is for people who have much to save.

Identify that there are many other methods. Satan sometimes also make sinful behaviour seem cool and accepted. Alcohol, sex, drugs, smoking, skimpy party in clubs.

actually, it could be switched around too, for instance Satan works harder to have Christians fall because he already has non-believers. we are tested and we sometimes break. We are the ones the devil needs to worry about because we are his biggest threat. He already has non-christians because he knows they aren't going to threaten him, while Christians will try to save people, which is not what he wants. I agree that both statements are correct but they both apply to both sets of people. Plus a non-caved person may not know what it means to be sinless therefore think they are perfect anyway and that leads to pride as well and pride goes before a fall so either way works I think.

^ Not all Christians do want to save others, do they? I do know some unenthusiastic Christians. I think Satan is generally not provoked when we are just keeping to ourselves, raving about God in our own little patch, not touching his people.

He would be pissed at those evangelicals though. Perhaps strengthen the negative ideas in the one who is about to be convert.

I dont rightly know. i know that many times Christians can be scared or intimidated by the prospect of evangelizing. But I also know that there are people who will stand in the streets and yell "repent and be saved or you're going to hell" and i'm strongly opposed to that because there are definetly ways to convert people without resorting to fear tactics.

you're right about strengthening those negative ideas though. everone has doubts about their faith and someone who is about to be converted tends to have them the strongest. i dont know whether or not it is Satan, but i think it's almost sort of a way to strengthen their beliefs after they have made the decision because it is one that they made that they want to stick with. I dont know myself from experience because i grew up in a Christian family. but every day I have doubts and every day I pray about my doubts and am strengthened. I think that Satan sends doubts into our lives and they can be very daunting. but i think that if we trust in God and stay with people who care about us and our faith we will always be strengthened. The same is for people who are coming to Christianity. They will have doubts but we can help them by supporting them in their life, not just Christianity. we need to be examples and i think that will always help in their decision

I like that answer. The most successful pastors always are a living example themselves how God has blessed them much.

^Yeah, I don't like those rigid fundamentals too. I'm staunch, but I don't believe in using fear. How can you use fear to fight fear? God is a god of love, the weapons we are given are the shield of faith, helm of peace or something.. They are all love based. Simply resorting to 'You will go to hell!' won't work, because the term of 'hell' won't even strike their hearts if they don't have the fear of the Lord. Hell is just a term people use. I bet most of them don't even bother acknowledging that it is very real.

The World is advancing technologically and scientifically. They dont' like terms like God and Hell. It doesn't apply to them. Devil's new plan - erase the idea that demons exist, and put the coming of Jesus as folktale.

exactly, but it also means that we need to adapt. to find different relevant ways for people to relate to the Bible. to make the coming of Jesus not a folktale but a truth that is relevant for the emergine economy. People use hell as a swear word now and it doesn't mean anything to them anymore. With the media and everything out today it's getting harder and harder to evangelize to people's hearts. we need to find a way to really motivate people and move them in ways that we havent thought of before. i think that Mel Gibsons "passion of the Christ" sort of scratched the surface. it was more of a "shock" type of style but it moved people. it gave them an idea of what exactly Jesus suffered and it was all for us. so I think that we need to find more and new ways to talk to people. They use the name of God as a swear word when they should fear and love that name. They should not have contempt for Christianity but they should start asking questions and we need to find more ways to do so.

I embody evil is what I mean. I'm not just a normal sinner. Let's put it this way: I make Satan look like baby shit.

Once you break the TEN commandments it is sin. There's no difference in how great and how bad a sinner. A sinner is a sinner is a sinner and that's what Jesus is there for. To save the lost sheep.

Judge not yourself. Who are you to tell how heavy a level of sinner are you except God?

1 Cor 4:3-4
But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged by you or by any human court. In fact, I do not even judge myself. 4 For I am not aware of anything against myself, but I am not thereby acquitted. It is the Lord who judges me. 5Therefore do not pronounce judgment before the time, before the Lord comes, who will bring to light the things now hidden in darkness and will disclose the purposes of the heart. Then each one will receive his commendation from God.

God is very precise. He isn't vague, like people.

Matthew 1:21
And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins.”

Salvation is unconditional.

Romans 10:9
that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

Here's Luke's account:

26 Then they sailed to the country of the Gadarenes, which is opposite Galilee.
27 And when He stepped out on the land, there met Him a certain man from the city who had demons for a long time. And he wore no clothes, nor did he live in a house but in the tombs.
28 When he saw Jesus, he cried out, fell down before Him, and with a loud voice said, “What have I to do with You, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg You, do not torment me!”
29 For He had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For it had often seized him, and he was kept under guard, bound with chains and shackles; and he broke the bonds and was driven by the demon into the wilderness.
30 Jesus asked him, saying, “What is your name?”
And he said, “Legion,” because many demons had entered him.
31 And they begged Him that He would not command them to go out into the abyss.
32 Now a herd of many swine was feeding there on the mountain. So they begged Him that He would permit them to enter them. And He permitted them.
33 Then the demons went out of the man and entered the swine, and the herd ran violently down the steep place into the lake and drowned.

And there we have the commentary for it:

Oh what a comfort it is to the believer, that all the powers of darkness are under the control of the Lord Jesus! It is a miracle of mercy, if those whom Satan possesses, are not brought to destruction and eternal ruin. Christ will not stay with those who slight him; perhaps he may no more return to them, while others are waiting for him, and glad to receive him.

Even satanists can be saved.

Nobody can outdo Satan in terms of sin. He is the father of it. his wisdom is far greater than man. Only God has total control over him. Therefore, you ARE still one of us. Do you need to see to believe? There are more people who've written testimonies that they have smoked, had marijuana when they were like 12, prostituting, been shot by a gun twice, been head of some mafia, had friends killed, murderer, prisoners, life wrecked, became satanists, demon possessed, all kinds you name it. Do you really want to compare on a level how evil are you?

The ones who are saved the most are the ones who will change the most. When you accept God to be your saviour, you are saved, but when you invite Him in your life, your life will be changed. If you believe God, don't you believe God is the Almighty? He is El Shaddai. He can undo everything that you've carefully done, no matter how evil easily. There is no need to carry out judgement for yourself.

Precisely because those who think Demons do not exist are easy to prey upon. They have no roofs above their homes to protect them from them. You truly want to know the existence of demons? Call upon them.

But I do not ask you to do so, because it is not a path of peace. God is a God of Love, but if one rejects Him, he is choosing his path down to sheol. (dwelling of the dead)

Psalm 88:3
For my soul is full of troubles, and my life draws near to Sheol.

Proverbs 27:20
Sheol and Abaddon are never satisfied, and never satisfied are the eyes of man.

The nothingness does not quench the thirst of man for greater purposes in life.

Isaiah 38:18
For Sheol does not thank you; death does not praise you; those who go down to the pit do not hope for your faithfulness.

Of course, to atheists it does not make sense, for you believe that nothing exists but what is to be seen. That makes the concept of 'faith' as something that cannot be understood.
