Mathematical concepts in Philosophy make up an overwhelming part of the discipline. From logic to language to Philosophy of science, etc. I have a hard time reading most of it, but I enjoy the approach very much.

Generally, yes, that is the first thing you're taught: logic. Makes sense, considering that all philosophy is is arguing. At least, as I have come to understand it. I make statement A, and someone else disserts with B, ad nauseum. Only through conversation can we advance our ideas.

At any rate, I enjoyed your quoting of Mill; even if I may disagree with his philosophy at times. I remember writing an essay about the "king pig" earlier this semester. Intriguing stuff, even if it isn't the exact crux of philosophical matters.

I've wondered, this, though: Is it necessarily true that doubting mathematics doubts logic, and, therefore, any method of communication, argumentation, etc?

If so, why? Children seem to be able to argue without mathematics. Or am I straw-manning this issue?

Is it that by doubting mathematics, you doubt order, and therefore patterns of causality or some such? Isn't order a relative thing though? I am getting off topic, but you seem to be the person to get off topic with.

Sorry to everyone for getting a bit off-topic but I don't post that much and this is a good question.
I had a similar discussion in the forums about this and I honestly do not know. maybe this will help.

does anyone have good classes to take when your major is computer science (programming) and Aerospace technology. Because i`m trying to master programming video games and look for a career in that. But i would like to work for
the major corporations. Instead of being thr gamer i will be making the game.

major in psychology, then get a masters in psychiatry or somethign like that...

SenbonzakuraMas...Many schools offer specific computer gaming programing classes. I know mine has one or two. You could also join one of these academy's Ive heard of which focuses on game programming as well.

On logic and math, well just read this for kicks when you have a years spare time: T_T

I haven't taken many useful classes yet. I'm majoring in English and Education with a philosophy minor. I've taken quite a few English classes like Comp, Creative writing and so on. Otherwise I'm just taking what ever classes interest me. It's kind of bad because I will be in school forever if I keep this up but it's more satisfying.
This semester I'm taking Ethics, Masterpieces of Literature, Western Civ 2, Abnormal Psych, and Intro to Theater Arts

it's not that bad, sounds like my schedule last year. I think is better to keep your semester balanced if you can, I have too many labs and science classes, so taking a few humanities is kind of relaxing.

Humanities classes typically drive me up the wall. I've found I'd rather just research a subject on my own at my pace and come to my own conclusions then be forced to regurgutate someone elses on a timeline. I like science and technology classes much more - they're for the most part black and white. It either works or it doesn't. With humanities so much of it is based on the oppinion of the professor you get. I don't have a single humanities class this semester, and I shouldn't have another for the next year and half or so (not counting foriegn language), which makes me happy as a clam.

I understand and agree with that, but when you have calculus, chemistry, biology, labs, etc. is nice to have some literature or history class every now and then.

^ Ironically, I hate Literature and History class cos I’m sick of memorization and reading. Bluntly speaking, my philosophy professors were nothing but a bookish geek that obliged us to remember everything written in the book; it's time consuming and mind-blowing. I'd rather choose to have labs and math cos I am free to do 'shortcuts' and make my own framework to solve problems and perform activities.

I am hoping to major in biomed engineering and if possible double major in finance as well.

Wow, that's freaky cause I'm doing the exact same thing. Except that I'm graduating this May with BME degree and then attend another year and a half to get a finance degree.

but this semester I feel very free
I have 2 classes that I have to attend:
->1 is a seminar psychometric measures. Basicly learning how to do testing like IQ tests, etc.
-> 1 is an optional class in fashion lol!! Behavior and fashion. I needed one more optional class to graduate so i thought it would be fun.

Other then that Im working on my memoir thesis.

It's fun! I get to make a fashion portfolio But at the same time kid myself into thinking it's a psychology class that's important to my degree because it deals with behavior xD
