That's true, if one has doubts about something, then make an appointment to see the professor. However sometimes I thought "how unfair to slow down because of one person" but in reality half of the class was as lost as the person who asked the question, they were just afraid to admit it and played along. After the first test in my Chemistry class half the class never showed up.

I am going to start college next Fall. I just sent out applications a few days ago accually. I'm wanting to major in computer engineering (hardware and software), and minor in physics and math. I can't wait to take calculus. Thats definatly a class I plan on taking my first semester. I was wondering if anyone here, by some random chance, goes to a school called DigiPen, or know someone who does?

Everytime I ask someone sitting near me they never know, so I always end up asking the questions. Then someone thanks me for pointing out something confusing while I'm back in my dorm.

College kids have no balls.

LoL....its all good. I am switching majors around and im still in a Junior College....its pretty much the same thing as being undeclared. ....I guess.....Cause I like computers, but I like art as well, but I good in math, but I hate taking math classes cuz its too boring.....For now I am sticking with Liberal Arts major until I decide what I want to do.

Zaphod, how are you doing in Calc i?

I have the hardest teacher... Ever in our entire campus. Lucky me.
60% average on the first exam. 2 people out of 160 got an A.

How about you?

I'm in that boat with my Chem I teacher. She has a Doctorate in Chemistry, so even our in class tutors don't understand her!

She has us a chapter ahead of all the other Chem teachers so we can't go to them for help.

And our class average rose from 57 to 64 on the tests. And she was totally happy!!
WTF!!
B****, my future depends on you being a good teacher not an incomprehensible rocket scientist!

And what is the deal with all proffessors wanting you to call them Dr-something, when you really don't care for their useless subjects?

They care about the Dr because that is their status and they worked hard to get there....plus its manners? It shows ummm...respectfulness? because I mean its not like you are familiar to them to just call them by their name. I know instructors who still get offended if you dont call them professors.

About being happy..have you asked her about that? Maybe your class is doing hella better than most of the other classes???? Hell my instructor was happy the class average was a 70% for US History. I was like..wth as well.....idk...Long as I understand the material and try my best I wont have any regrets. Good luck on passing man...I am sure this instructor is preparing you for later....if you are going into the field....I found that what I was taught in some of my past classes in Highschool are at a the same level as the beginning classes at the colleges, if not a little more....And I find the classes I need to pass too boring because I already covered the material in the past. So I dont know..I'd rather work my ass off than be bored as hell and lazily pass the class and not learn anything.

My chemistry teacher is the hardest one in my campus, he only gives 2 tests each worth 50 percent of the grade. Yes, is challenging but I tried as hard as I could to pass. Now, I couldn't thank him enough for pushing my limits, I passed his classes and I am now taking him for the 3rd time, and when I compare my knowledge with other students that prefer to take an easier teacher I always find out that I understand chemistry much more than them, they got A's in their chem classes, and I passed chem 1 with a C+ and chem 2 with a B-

And you future does not depend on her being a good teacher, it depends on you. Remember that education is not a preparation for life, education is life itself.

Yeah..what mauz15 said is true as well...... it is always good to know more than you need to than not enough. And yes there is not point in taking a harder teacher if you do not understand your material. But depends on the individual. If you get things handed to you...of course you might get lazy. some people need to be forced to do it on their own and be self motivated. *Probably like me* I wont budge unless I am forced to.

They just want to feel cool and powerful. "Students? Oh, you mean those tuition paying guppies."

yea it does suck that profs at big public schools dont really care about teaching... just really their research. cut them some slack though, theyre pretty busy people. if you need help, dont be afraid to ask the teaching assistants... they're supposed to know everything

Lol, Well.

I'm currently a 2nd year in Montgomery College, doing a 2 year CC and 2 year uni. thing since I got a full ride trust fund for it, lucky me. Doing a dual major in Electrical Engineering and Software Engineering along with a math minor/English minor/Computer Graphics minor.

Best advise about calculus? Don't listen to the teacher, read the book, I only showed up to class to turn in my homework and take tests/quizes, passed it with a 91. Easiest class ever... though I will say math has always been my strong point. English owns me though

@lilhelen You will never ever find a teacher that cares for anything more than himself and his paycheck in any school. Best thing to do is to hold him to the agreement, remember you're paying for him, therefore he better find time to help you, if not then go straight to the Dean. I've had a few problems with teachers not liking me never showing up to classes but always managing to get A's or B's. Once I get into the 300 level classes I won't be able to pull this off tho so I'm enjoying it while I can.

@lusulpher I had a teacher like that, I ended up dropping her class and retaking the same class next semester and getting a 99 in it. Missed 1 question on the final >< God damn Pro-E designing finals. But I could not understand her for shit, and she was always like "this is easy you see? you do this then this and you done, you don't need to think just do this" After 1 week of this I just got up cussing and left the class, seriously couldn't stand her. And yea, she was also a Dr. Wendy He, and preferred everyone to call her Dr. He. I have no idea where these pompous professors come from.

Hehehe....San Fancisco...nice nice...like couple hrs from where I am. I'll be in Jose during the winter cause of family then headin to, who knows where, to go snowboarding.

There are colleges that have small classes so I wouldnt doubt that you could. I think this mainly applies to majorly crowded colleges where you have a jammed packed 35 students per class, if not more. Beats me. But that is the way my college is. later it wont be though. Need to xfer.
