So anyone else looking forward to FF XIV coming up next month? XI was the first mmorpg i've played due to that i'm a avid fan of the series. XI overall was a pretty solid game, but my main gripes were that it had a steep learning curve, was party centric, and travel time was pretty ridiculous at times. From what I've heard/seen so far XIV will change all that and looks really awesome to boot. Any thoughts or input?

I was looking forward to it for most of the year but not anymore. I actually just cancelled my preorder today. The game has a lot of potential but it really isn't ready for release right now and Square keeps implementing stupid things.

hmm i admit i was surprised when finding out about the release date myself so soon after beta opened.. but its been in the making for awhile most mmorpgs i've played dont usually have a perfect start either. I'll be keeping this in mind when starting up.

I thought about giving this one a chance, but I'm not really into mmorpgs. Plus, I've lost total interest in Final Fantasy within the past few months. Maybe if it gets good reviews I'll give it a try.

don't from some information I obtained you will only be able to play one hour online daily, if you play over four hours all the experience that you have gained will be reset to zero. I has something to do about square being worried about peoples health and spending to much time online playing a game. To me this bs since you have to pay to play online.

Thats a bit overblown but its kind of the way it works. The official explanation is that you can level one class for 8 hours before you start gaining less and less exp before you eventually get none. To avoid this you can change classes but in order to start gaining normal exp again it takes a whole week for the exp to reset back to normal. Either way, its an extremely stupid idea thats got a lot of people up in arms.

That seems to rumor from what i've heard, but their does seems to be a penalty in the works to encourage playing different roles and the exp only starts dropping after around 8 hours which wont affect me none ^^ http://www.ff14news.com/

well i will not be paying 50 bucks plus 15 dollars month to pay 24 hours total of game time. Square Enix better get off there asses and try to fix this or there will be a lot of cancellations for the pre-orders here. They have to remember that they are in a mmorpg market which means they are competing with guild wars which has fee online play, world of war-craft which just a huge by the number of players and even free mmorpgs that you download and play as long as you want to. I am not to much in the whole "mmorpg" scene, phantasy star online was my 1st taste and hell i still boot up my dream cast to play offline just for fun. sorry for the rant i was just sorta looking forward to this game is all.

I hear they are working on a free server for the game this time. Though I don't remember where I heard that... probably going to be some cheap thing giving limited access, but just hearing of a free server is nice.

When you pay a monthly fee for a game, you expect to be able to play as much as you want, thats how other mmo's are. Either Square Enix are being greedy or they want everyone to reach the same level every month so no one is far ahead of another player, which is'nt fair for a game with a monthly fee.

hmm i have been thinking alot of people might play the pc game will probably set up private servers and twik around away to get passed certian things. I remember when I had my free WOW account and played on a friends private server with the ability to level up to 200 in only a hour

From what I understood they took out the need to spend 99 hours to gain a level. Even the whole crappy LFG for 19 hours as a monk. Regardless I played the previous online version for 4 years. I plan to play this one but I'm pretty sure the game is no longer solo based around zomg levels. Here is to hoping that I'm right or else the 80 bucks I spent on the collected edition or w/e will be wasted.
