How come season 2 ain't region restricted while season 1 is?

If I recall correctly, the second series was acquired as a simulcast. It is easier to acquire broader rights at the outset than well after the series has been completed.

It is also possible that the method by which CR acquired the rights to the first series was by sub-licensing it from the North American distributor, which would not have had access to rights for any the other region.

I hope that airing Hayate the Combat Butler! being aired at Crunchyroll will help Bandai Entertainment a bit. If the sub-only DVD sales does well enough, I hope Bandai will go back to it and re-release the series with a dub with Yuri Lowenthal and Cristina Vee as Hayate Ayasaki and Nagi Sanzenin. In fact, I even thought that this show should have gotten a dub in the first place with the TV deal.

And by the way, if you guys don't agree with the idea of Hayate the Combat Butler! needs to be re-released with a dub if the sub-only DVD sales does well, you can go burn in hell for all I care.

a dub re-realse is not going to happen, that has never happened expect for series like dragon ball z and sailor moon and lets face facts anime is not, no where near a popular as it used to be during the 80's, 90's and early turn of century. also on your last bit "you can burn in hell for all care"? are you really that mad that they didn't do a dub? I mean bandai is in debt unlike funimation and paying for domestic voice-actors would only add more to the overpriced dvd's that they already selling, I have most of them so far but i only bought the used >_> i will be damned If i pay 35 bucks for sub only dvd with no special features or commentary.

Yes I really wanted to see this series have it's own North American dub. And I'm pretty sure a dubbed re-release would happen if the sub-only DVD sales does well (e.g. Clannad). I think that with Crunchyroll streaming Hayate the Combat Butler!, Bandai might reconsider and may plan to re-release the series with a dub. I mean, consider the fact that many people think Cristina Vee is the dub equivalent to Rie Kugimiya, I would love to see her voice some of Kugimiya's tsundere-loli roles.

And if you oppose the idea of a Hayate re-release with a dub, then fuck you.

I never was opposed the idea, all i am saying is that bandai is not the ones that will be able to do it and I hardly doubt that since they are facing a lot of hard finical troubles. To be blunt I do not see them sticking around in the next 2 years or so "doing anime in America" all i am trying to say is that they will loose money if they re-realse the series with a dub since the dvd's for hayate are not selling well to begin with. If you want some that's opposed to dubs go to 4chan or something because i am neither for agiasnt them as long as people enjoy watching their favorite series but I will be blunt I watch more subs than dubs but that's probably due to fact most funimation dubs are just slapped on to sell the dvd's.

Well, they could have made more money if they re-release Hayate in a complete collection (ALL episodes in one boxset) with a dub. I mean, Clannad Complete Collection where there is a bilingual release did sell really well. Statistically wise, bilingual DVD sets outsell sub-only. And besides, having the episodes streamed at Crunchyroll would at least encourage people to buy the DVDs.

And how the hell do you know that Bandai isn't doing well when they said that they had a good 2009 year during Eric P. Sherman's controversy several months ago?

well a full 52 episode box set would cos around 60-120 dollars which is a little out of my price range but hey if they did blu-ray on the other hand >_> i was under the impression they where in fiscal trouble but that was my mistake. That was there game department that had a loss 300 million so i am sorry about that.

To be fair, it isn't necessary to go elsewhere to find those who oppose dubs. There are a number of the "all dubs suck" crowd here at CR, who are not shy about letting everyone know about it, and most of whom would selfishly want dubs to simply disappear.

well i am more aware of that... It is just when i want a dub for show well any thing for that matter I want them to have the same passion for the characters as much as the original audio has, but that's just me ..
