Ever saved a life?

Once I performed a lot of first aid after witnessing a large bus crash in rural west Africa. Mostly applying compresses, tourniquets, and helping move people away from each other so there wouldn't be too much blood cross-contamination. All that effort went to waste because when a truck came to take people to the hospital, everyone who couldn't sit up was just piled next to each other, in full open-wound contact.

I have no idea if I actually helped anyone or not. Even though I had plenty of latex gloves, I took HIV tests about every 3 months for over two years...no HIV or other diseases, fortunately.

I would have stayed on the fire department longer but I had to quit when I moved to Tulsa to go to school.

If something happened, nothing as bad as losing a life would've happened. Now indirectly, it'd be yes. I've raised dogs that had saved a family member's life. I've counseled others out of some bad moments in their lives, so I guess it'd be yes/no depending on perspective.
