as i understand it there are uncensored feeds of anime shows being put on the air in japan, im just wounndering if we can get access to thoes.

as a premium member i am willing to pay for anime (which if i rember correctly comes out to somting really cheap) and i can understand having to pay more for a product (the product in this case seems to be more nuidity than blood and gore)

in some cases anime is censored to the point of bolderization, which is really distorting what the artist and writer want us to experence.

so are we getting blocked by japan, or is it more the US being overprotective and ill-understanding the medium at the censoring level?

I believe that since this is a PG-13 site and nudity is more into the rated R, it probably won't be likely.

Wait, do you want hentai or just nudity/gore fests? Specify what you want.

This is a pg-13 site, too many underage kids here and shinji can get in trouble for that (for the hentai). Blood/gore, I don't mind it, but some viewers don't like the sight of seeing such things I guess. The only way you can get anime uncensored if you watch on it DVD or in another place. =T

there are some shows here that are uncensored, but if you mean for the simulcasts I don't think that would be possible, it has to do with the company they get the rights from and if its aired censored or uncensored from them. while there are some shows that are aired censored first and then a few days or a week later aired uncensored on a different tv station it probably more difficult to get the rights from them or their not willing to allow the uncensored version streamed for it might hurt sales of the dvds, but thats just my guess.

For simulcasts, Crunchyroll gets the broadcast feed, not the DVD or premium cable feed. When the Japanese production committees produce anime that they have to censor, they normally do that on purpose in order to sell more DVD's.

Now, Japanese DVD's sell for insanely high prices ~ like I stumbled around Amazon Japan and found Sora no Woto DVD's for over $60 ~ and that's each volume for six volumes total, so over $360 to get the whole series when it is first released. If they have a series they are censoring in order to sell Japanese DVD's, they are going to make the pirates wait until the DVD's come out until they can rip it. So there's just no way they will make the uncensored cut available for simulcast on Crunchyroll.

They've got age block running, so if someone lies about being 18 and convinced a credit card company, that's their responsibility, not Crunchroll's. And if you look at series that are uploaded by North American licensees, like Queen's Blade, they upload the uncensored version: that's the version they put on their DVD, so its the version they have available to upload. But that is long after the main selling period of the original Japanese DVDs.
