Let me clear a few things up.
- We never said we were going to support HTML5 and we have no plans to support it at this time since the HTML5 standard is no where near completion.
- Android:
- We will most likely release an Android app when Android OS matures. Though, the way things look, you'll probably need a future version of Android OS in order to use it.
- You wouldn't notice much of a difference between SD quality and 480P or 720P on an Android phone since the screen is small. (SD looks fine on my HTC EVO).
- Most 3G connections aren't fast enough to stream 480P or 720P videos.
- You can still access our 480P and 720P vids through the main site if you have Adobe Flash but the phones aren't able to handle running the files since the videos aren't mobile optimized and Adobe Flash doesn't support hardware acceleration yet .
- The PS3 browser sucking is not an excuse, we're merely stating the facts. However we are planning to natively support the PS3.

HEY!!!! i tried a bunch of different videos and still cant get them to work.... im promted with the "need wifi connection to watch video" so am i misunderstanding this post? do you still need wifi to watch the vids?

But in case that left a big point unclear, is it true that with Android2.2 (FroYo), its possible to stream Crunchyroll videos right now? Entirely independent of any app? (though if accessing with your normal account, you'll need to remember to pick the SD stream)
So the app would be to make it more comfortable to access Crunchy on a small screen?

Thanks for the update and clarification on the issue. I've tried to stay abreast on the issues, but often miss any important updates.
But for all I can tell, we are still a good ways away from an Andriod app won't happen until CR determines it has "Matured" Not sure what that measurement is, but CR must have some indicator flag that will fly saying "Android is now mature" and then start the process to release for us an App that will be simuliar to the iPhone app. I guess we have a good bit of waiting ahead.
Our Droid X will probably do ok with 2.2 and I will need to be patient for the 3G streaming to access my CR shows.
Ok, guess that's how it will work. No app for awhile, 2.2 when it comes, patient to watch show.

another vote for android app please, would warrant me paying for CR when fillers are running on bleach/naruto.
Edit: erm nvm guess I'll have to wait for flash to finally realease for the droid.

Yes, you can watch our SD videos on Android 2.2+ if you have Adobe Flash installed (not Adobe Flash Lite). The Mobile Site is there in order to make it easy to navigate the site on small devices.

A dedicated application would be for people that want an alternative to using Adobe Flash. Also, if possible, we would like to support Android devices that can't have Adobe Flash but I'm really not sure how likely that is.
