Game Consoles, Phones, Ipods or MP3s, Computers, and etc have been a very very popular trend these past few years. People had to buy the latest of the latest, even if that person just bought an Ipod Nano yesterday, and just because the day after the Ipod Touch was out for grabs, that person had to buy it. They are the remarkable source of entertainment and communication, not just to teenagers and adolescents, but also to Married Adults, Parents, and Old People. I heard from the news that the Queen of England herself is a Wii addict, she has an Iphone, and the Wii that she is using is her grandson's which she enjoyed playing more than him.

CNN Analists said, "God save the Queen."

Now that we know how important it is, even the Queen is already addicted, are those gadgets really necessary in life? What do you think of them and how it affects not just younglings but also everyone of all ages? When you have a gadget of some sort and when a newer version comes out, do you always have the urge of getting it? Why? Think of its importance in your life, and how it is affecting your life right now. Is it giving a good or a bad effect?

Note: I searched for Gadgets, Electronics, and etc. There were no particular affiliation to my topic, but if I am incorrect, I am more than happy if you deal with it.

Are those gadgets really necessary in life? No, but they can be helpful. But lets face it, they're a waste of resources.

What do you think of them and how it affects not just younglings but also everyone of all ages? Waste of money. You can buy one if you want, but changing every now and then just for the trend is stupid. It'll be amazing that anyone can use 60% of what the gadgets function.

When you have a gadget of some sort and when a newer version comes out, do you always have the urge of getting it? Why? No, waste of money. For computers: upgrades.

Think of its importance in your life, and how it is affecting your life right now? Neutral. If your work requires you to have one (eg. laptop or desktop) than its better to have one. Otherwise ithey're just tertier goods.

Is it giving a good or a bad effect? Can be both. Its good for the economy, gives jobs. Its a waste of resources though.

It's not a question of it being a necessity, rather, it's more a question of how they create a market demand.

I know several people who buy top of the line PCs but don't know shit about using computers, so all that raw power is put to waste. They're just contented with the fact that they have the "latest technology" ~ ergo, it's good.

Practicality is thrown out the window as far as technology is concerned, because quite frankly, many people don't have the patience to actually understand many of the technicalities involved in technology. So as long as they know that this product is "the best" (or popular, even), they'll buy it.

In the words of Scott Adams, "You make it, they be stupid."

I hate it when people walk around with ipods at school.
I'm like you or someone paid money for that and your going to get it taken away or stolen?

I like my ipod and I like my internet. I am not the best with technology, but i enjoy it because I like it. I really don't care about the latest mp3 model or coolest phone because I am content with what I have. The technology fad is no different from any other fad.

It's their responsibility and not your concern.

I admit myself to being addicted...I can't live without my laptop, zune or sony ericsson phone. However I don't think it's necessary for a person spend exessive amounts of money on technology, as long as it works and has the basics. I have a friend that has gone through 3 ipods, 1 toshiba gigabeat, 2 laptops, and 3 phones in one year and I think those cases are exaggerated...as for society in general, hobbies have changed and as long as we know that health is top priority and keep it there then we're good with waves of innovations.

Haha, I like that come back, but I kinda understand where winryxedward is coming from. You don't have to excessively "flaunt" your gadgets, moreover if you're in an educational institution, and the security of your students if prime. I mean, let's face it, many kids get robbed of cellphones and mp3 players, simply because they make themselves easy targets.

It's true that it's their responsibility, but that should also include being aware of the risk that they're putting themselves in. I, for one, like to mask the fact that I have an iPod by switching off the earphones. Not only do they no longer look like those of an iPod, but they're also of better audio quality, so I hit to birds with one stone.

I "mask" my iPod, simply because there are too many of them going around, and it seems to be a hot item for those who like to steal around here... hmph...

I also get what you're saying but really hey are getting what they deserve if it gets stolen. I use mine at school but I don't flaunt it and I am always aware of here I put it.
