Green Gold Rush

Sup people?

I live in CA and the issue of Medical Marijuana is a very popular and active topic. I'm one of many who participate in the movement to legalize Cannabis for personal use. Right now everybody is preparing for the November ballot because the issue of legalization of Cannabis has received enough signatures to appear on it. So this November I'm sure most of you are going to be watching CA in anticipation of the result. Recently I've seen a poll on this issue and so far the people of CA are 53% against [Grrr] and 48% for it with a 3% margin of error. So in other words this race is very f*cking close. So people... what do you have to say?

Warning: Hurtful, Hateful or Ignorant posts are subject to equal responses/reactions, with that in mind DON'T FIGHT! If not then I will make it the Admins problem and make them take appropriate action.

*Opinion* I think its going to pass considering how much we're putting effort into informing the people and rallying support. With legalization will come another CA Rush that will probably be called the "Green Gold Rush" or something similar. This will create more jobs and opportunities for people all over the world and everybody will be running to CA again until other states follow. It may just pull everybody out of this recession.

I support the declassification, legalisation and taxation of all drugs. Not just Marijuana. Drug laws reform is strongly needed imho.

Hellz yeah, who has the right to decide what the heck you smoke, sniff or inject to your own body and if some people say that people who are under a drugs influence might be harmful then should you ban alcohol too? Drugs being illegal is totally stupid and lame in my opinion.

We can look forward to a bunch of people going paranoid in the streets. Though it's practically already legalin CA. Just walk into a half assed drugstore, cough a little, say your arm hurts, and they will say "Sounding like Sean Connery" "DEAR GOD, YOU HAVE THIS SUPER RARE DISEASE, HERE HAVE SOME LEGAL WEED". Walk out, enjoy.

Weed causes paranoia, and people who are afraid that other people are going to get them, can act out in violence against others. I've been on a paranoid high before, almost got myself killed. Before you say, "Most people don't get that". About 10-25% of people get it, and it only takes one person to adversely affect everyone else. Also, a paranoid person naturally omits a sense of fear that can spread to everybody else, causing them to become paranoid as well.

Once weed becomes legalized, expect at LEAST, double the amount of domestic abuse cases, and a high increase of homicides.

I live in California and yeah the topic on medicinal marijuana is a heated one. I read some strong restrictions have been suggested. Like who gets it and how much they should be allowed to cultivate at on time. But who are they kidding? 7 outta 10 license will be selling it on the side. Come on, they were handing out medicinal marijuana evaluations + cards at "Rock the Bells."

But making it legal could put a damper on the underground marijuana dealers/sales. Were just have to wait and see how it turns out.

If it becomes legal, the underground marajuana dealers will just turn themselves into a cultivation business. Just like after the prohibition was lifted, the underground hush hush bars came to light and the shady business turned legit.

I'd have to disagree with you there.

Drinking causes similar effects on people with unstable emotions and mental states. Sure, regulate the hell out of cannabis if it's legalized and tax it like it's done to alcohol, but don't just assume that because something jumps from illegal to legal it is going to double anything.

Also, remember the prohibition of alcohol back in the 1920's. Alcohol is now widely embraced, and even some studies have found that regular consumption may increase your lifespan.

*Shrug* Just saying.

Okay I'm guessing you're against legalization....

Yes the scenario you describe is more than a possibility. But the difference is that they can be held accountable. A underground/shady business gets a whiff of trouble and they scatter. However, a licensed dealer would have to pay taxes, bookkeep, inventory, and all that stuff to keep in business and on top of that follow regulation to keep it legit. I could be wrong but I see this as a good thing. However, as I mention before, I also see the blatant BS in the issue.

I'm pro legalization. It's better to have people paranoid knowing what they are doing is legal, rather than thinking they have to resist authority and end up getting shot.
