[Trans] 100912 Changmin’s SPUR Pink Love Special Interview

A love story, tales about work… the latest catch up on Changmin without make up!

Charming Changmin

This time, for Changmin who hasn’t come back in a while, SPUR Pink proposed the ‘pink!’ theme. Other than clothes, talking about love and his work also… in general, these stories will make your heart turn into shades of pink.

Profile

Born in February 1988. B blood type. Coming to Japan this time, he cheerfully said “I ate my favorite Ramen and Udon!” This past summer, he participated in the SM World tour held in Seoul, LA, and Shanghai.

When I’m in love, no matter what I see, I always feel “really happy”!

“In days that are refreshing and cool, I always feel like wearing pink colored clothing.” Changmin, matched with the clothes that he is wearing, showed expressions full of charm. Occasionally gentle, sometimes lazy. But today, he also looks like someone confessing their inner thoughts to the person they like, showing a very confused expression!!

“Although people say that when you’re in love, your heart will turn pink, my heart actually turns purple! When I become attracted someone, I start having a build up of emotions. No matter what I see, I will feel like ‘ah~ I’m so happy’. I think that whenever I’m in love, I will always fall into this positive and energetic state.” Changmin said with a touch of embarrassment.

With regards to the movie ‘Notting Hill’, Changmin said, “I love this the most” with a smile, once again taking us into the comedic side of relationships, because watching it will make you very happy. So, what is the ideal lover and relationship that Changmin draws in his mind?

“If I had a girlfriend, I would probably be in contact with her everyday so I can let her be at ease. But when I want to focus my mind on my work, she would understand me. Women who are ‘far-sighted’ are my ideal types. For each other, we shouldn’t be too restricting over one another that would cause the both of us to feel unpleasant. I would also want to understand her and be a boyfriend that doesn’t interfere with her work.

But, being jealous and controlling once in a while, I guess would also be an expression of love too. Just like this, continuing to influence each other positively and having a relaxed relationship would be the best.”

But now, “compared to love, I’m more addicted to tennis, which has just started!” he said with his eyes sparkling, just like a teenager.

“I started to play tennis because I wanted to exercise my body and lost some weight. When I was filming for my television drama, the amount of my food-ingestion was limited. That stimulated me to furiously eat after I was done, so I became fatter (laugh).

What did I learn through the filming? Too much. I also came across things that required a lot of thought and pondering over. For example, I’ve always been doing activities in a group, so even though my condition isn’t that good, there will be people who cover for me. But during the filming this time, I honestly felt that I must carry all the burden myself so I won’t let down the staff members who have always given me so much support. Because of this, I have grown and matured.

I can grasp Japanese better, and I will work hard to sing and dance, whether I’m in Korea or Japan, whether I’m an actor or a singer… I don’t want to stay in one place. I want to continue doing activities. I also truly want to become an artist who can achieve results in everything that I do.”

Exposing his deeply-hidden feelings and blossoming with an even stronger and brighter radiance, Changmin’s pounding heart of pink, compared to love or other things, is surviving on his will to work his best!

[Trans] 100913 Why Cant We Listen To The TVXQ Trio’s Songs?
Raemong Raein, the production company of KBS drama ‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’, has stated that it will file a report to the Fair Trade Committee stating that the drama’s O.S.T, which TVXQ’s Xiah Junsu, Micky Yoochun and YoungWoong Jaejoong participated in, is currently unable to be distributed through online music sites due to a certain company’s unfair corporate practices.

A representative of Raemong Raein stated, “We contacted various companies with regards to the online distribution of the O.S.T, which the three members of TVXQ participated in, but we have hit a roadblock and are unable to progress,” and “We believe this may be the work of a certain company using unfair corporate practices so we are planning to report the case to the Fair Trade Committee for further investigations.”

◇Why can’t we listen to the TVXQ Trio’s songs online?=The three members participated in the O.S.T of SungKyunKwan Scandal, the drama which Park Yoochun (Micky Yoochun’s real name) is starring in, and recorded the song ‘Found You’. However, this song is not available on any of the major online music sites such as ‘Melon’, ‘Mnet’, ‘Dosirak’ and ‘Cyworld’.

As Raemong Raein has been unable to find a suitable domestic distribution company, it is currently reaching out to foreign label companies.

◇Did SM have a hand in this?= Raemong Raein has pointed out the possibility of SM having a hand in the current situation. The three members are currently in a lawsuit with their agency SM Entertainment regarding their unlawful contract.

There are voices being raised now that SM is stopping the songs from being distributed through KMP Holdings, which was created by and consists of Korea’s top entertainment agencies such as SM, YG and JYP Entertainment.

A representative of one of the distribution companies stated, “From what I know, the music sites aren’t providing services for the O.S.T because KMP Holdings contacted them and asked them not to distribute the songs. In the process, they even stated that they would stop giving such sites rights to distribute songs from KMP Holdings singers if the O.S.T songs were released.”

A representative of another company stated, “There were a lot of companies interested in distributing SungKyunKwan Scandal’s O.S.T before the drama was aired but they all gave up because there were fears that they may be hurt by releasing the songs.”

The Fair Trade Committee has stated that it is willing to take on the case as soon as Raemong Raein files it. A top representative of the Fair Trade Committee stated, “We would have to investigate the finer details, but if a certain company is using their position in the industry to stop songs of a certain singer from being distributed, then the action will be deemed as unfair corporate practices.

On the other hand, SM is denying such speculations. A representative of SM stated, “I’m hearing all of this for the first time,” and denied the accusations.

[NEWS] Dong Bang Shin Ki’s temporal Japanese promotion suspension a worry for the ‘new Kpop hallyu’ in Japan

There has been great concern in Korea after news went out that Dong Bang Shin Ki trio Micky YooChun, Hero JaeJoong and Xiah JunSu had left their Japanese agency.

The news came directly from the trio’s Japanese agency AVEX Trax on 16th September, announcing the temporal suspension of the trio’s Japanese activities. With that on 17th September, the trio’s representative responded on 17th September that the report is an one-sided report from AVEX Trax and have posed the trio with adverse conditions.

Even though this is for the trio’s Japanese activities, there has been great interests coming from Korea’s side as well. This is because currently, we are looking at the ‘new hallyu’ by singers who are promoting in Japanese currently like Big Bang, Supernova, KARA, So Nyeo Shi Dae etc.

In fact, the chance success to be achieved by the girlgroups in the Japanese music scene is said to be high. At the same time, many of these singers’ local agencies are contacting Japanese agencies to work together for these group’s Japanese promotions. And with this news, there have been many eyebrows raised from officials in the Korean music industry.

This comes as somewhat a cold air amidst the Kpop fever going on in the Japanese music scene. Dong Bang Shin Ki has been acknowledged as the representative Korean singer in the Japanese music scene. And many of the Japanese fans of KARA and So Nyeo Shi Dae are also fans of Dong Bang Shin Ki. This would have some impact on the Korean management companies to work with more caution with their groups promoting in Japan.

An official from the music scene commented, “Dong Bang Shin Ki is the pillar and the co-existence to Kpop in Japan. Even though they have not been very active since last year, we cannot underestimate the power that comes with the name in Japan. It is not exaggerating to say that the Kpop ‘new hallyu’ are made by Dong Bang Shin Ki. There are worries that with the 3 leaving the Japanese music scene, it will be like cold wind amidst the hot fever of Kpop in Japan.”

[Trans] 100917 Interview With Trio’s Legal Spokesman Lawyer Lim Sang Hyuk

In an interview on the 17th, the trio’s legal spokesman and lawyer Lim Sang Hyuk revealed that, “Avex requested changes in the contract that the members found difficult to agree to in clauses regarding topics such as income distribution.”

Lawyer Lim Sang Hyuk also added, “At first, it was agreed that all activities performed by the three members would be scheduled and discussed by both sides, but Avex began asking for this to be changed so that Avex would have sole control of scheduling; Avex also requested additional changes that the trio felt were logically unacceptable”

Regarding Avex pinpointing the history of the head of C-JeS as the main reason for halting activities, Lawyer Lim explained that, “Mr. Baek, the head of C-JeS, willingly volunteered for his company to be excluded from the contract if his criminal record would become a problem, but Avex ignored such a notice,” and “Later, they deemed that it would be difficult to progress normally with Mr. Baek’s background.”

The TVXQ trio’s official statement said that, “Several months ago, Avex requested that C-JeS be excluded from the contract for such reasons, and the TVXQ trio agreed to such a request and actively participated in the discussions regarding the renewal of their contract with Avex in order to ensure that they would have smooth activities within Japan.”

Lawyer Lim stated, “When viewing the chain of events, there were many situations that could only be seen as Avex insisting that things go their way and their way only. If the opposition decides to retaliate, we will release additional information from our side.”

He also added that, “The essence of the current controversy is that an agency offered unfair conditions, contrary to what had been included in the previous contract, to their artistes. When these artistes refused to comply, the agency halted all activities, disregarding the members’ wishes,” and “It is disheartening to see that Avex is using the head of C-JeS, who is not affiliated with any gangs whatsoever, as a scapegoat to distract the media and public from the real problem.”

Lawyer Lim criticized that, “It is immoral to back the TVXQ trio, some of Korea’s most representative Hallyu stars, into a corner just because they cannot fulfill a company’s greed,” and strongly stressed that, “We will work hard to resolve this situation and allow the TVXQ trio to resume their activities in Japan.”

[Trans] 100916 Dancing Crown Prince Yunho… “Amazing, Amazing!”

Japanese tourists came to watch musical ‘Goong’.

After the curtain down and sent an off to the stage, loud applauses by audiences was followed. Japanese female audiences stood up and chanted, “Yunho! Yunho!” .

On that day, musical ‘Goong’ was presenting popular group TVXQ member Yunho. Eventhough the applauses volume increased more and more, however even after 5 minutes had passed, Yunho still did not re-appear (for curtain call). The audiences who had crossed the sea to watch the show, showed regrettable expressions, but they just smiled and gave another applause while picking up their belongings.

Last 9th evening, musical ‘Goong’ that was performed in theatre in National Museum of Seoul was rather special. It’s because the audiences was only Japanese tourists (group audiences). All the 800 seats were filled with Japanese female in their 40 – 50, leaving the stage to flow with Japanese subtitles. The actors as well, freely used Japanese word “Wakarimasuka? (Do you understand?) a lot on stage.

The audiences were all concentrating to see ‘His Royal Highness Crown Prince’ Yunho. Everytime he appeared, there would be an explosion of cheers. Even when he just removed one button on his suit, exclamation like “Wow~” was leaked out.

One audience A-san who bought tour package for 3 days and 2 nights to watch musical ‘Goong’ said, “Yunho is really good in both singing and acting.” she added, “Eventhough I wasn’t able to get ticket for the last day, but I still want to come along.” When was asked about her age, she responded, “Can’t you see? I’m an oba-san (T/N: ahjumma in Korean) here.” The other audience B-san, “There’s never a Korean idol whose presence and charisma almost reach perfection like this.” as she claimed.

It’s tough for actors to give breath to characters that are taken from comics. Despite Yunho still showed a stiff acting, yet his singing and dancing were stable. There was also a LED video which was fairly functional in some of the scenes, however it made the performance a bit lacking in aesthetics department.

Yet, satisfaction of the Japanese audience seemed to high. ‘Goong’ packaged goods sold in Japan were sold out on the launching day. The musical production company plans to proceed total 4 times performances specially for Japanese audiences.

Meanwhile other TVXQ member Junsu is holding an event called “Kim Junsu Musical Concert” on October 7th – 10th in Seoul Olympic Park Gymnastics Stadium, the ticket which is being sold in Japanese travel agency is also gaining a lot of demands.

[Trans] 100917 TVXQ Trio’s Official Statement On Avex’s Decision To Halt JYJ’s Japanese Activities

The TVXQ trio, Micky Yoochun, Xiah Junsu and YoungWoong Jaejoong, released the following official statement regarding Avex’s decision to halt the group’s activities in Japan.

<Official Statement>

1) The head of C-JeS has no ties to gangs whatsoever.

Though his previous conviction is true, it was not a verdict made regarding any ties with gangs. Avex was fully aware of this fact before their contract with the TVXQ trio was signed, and as this cannot be classified as a breach of the exclusive contract, it cannot become a reason to halt activities or cancel the contract.

Several months ago, Avex requested that C-JeS be excluded from the contract for such reasons, and the TVXQ trio agreed to such a request and actively participated in the discussions regarding the renewal of their contract with Avex in order to ensure that they would have smooth activities within Japan.

However, Avex put forth conditions that were unfair to the trio unlike their previous contract, and when the trio refused to accept such conditions, Avex stated the gang ties of the head of C-JeS as a reason for canceling the contract, and finally released an official notice stating that no more activities would occur.

While these details were being discussed, the TVXQ trio continued to diligently carry out all scheduled activities to keep their promise with their fans and worked hard to come to an agreement with Avex.

2) The victims of this situation are the TVXQ trio. Avex attempted to coerce the trio to comply to changes in the contract, but when the trio refused to agree to such conditions, Avex announced a halt in their activities with no regard to the trio’s opinions.

Since the signing of the contract with the trio till now, Avex has involved the TVXQ trio in various activities aimed at raising the agency’s income such as concerts, Xiah Junsu’s solo album, participation in another Avex singer’s music video, and the recent ‘The…’ album.

However, Avex has been putting forth unfair conditions to the TVXQ trio, contrary to what had been done in the past, for the past several months by using the past conviction of the head of C-JeS as a pretext, and when these conditions were rejected, Avex began discussions on canceling their contract and announced a halt in activities in order to corner the TVXQ trio.

This can be seen as Avex taking all the money that they can from the TVXQ trio and then proceeding to create a situation that makes it impossible for the trio to sign on with any other agency in Japan, thus blocking the trio’s path with regards to Japanese activities. The TVXQ trio had no intentions of stopping their activities in Japan, and the announcement made by Avex reflected only the thoughts of the agency themselves.

3) Avex has made an illogical statement that the contract between Avex and SM Entertainment regarding the five members of TVXQ is still valid though they would suspend Micky Yoochun, Xiah Junsu and YoungWoong Jaejoong’s contract.

Regarding this, Micky Yoochun, Xiah Junsu and YoungWoong Jaejoong stated that, “First of all, we are extremely sorry to have to bring our fans such news. Though we actively participated in discussions with Avex in order to come to an agreement, it is regrettable that an announcement to halt our activities in Japan had to be made. Due to this situation, we can’t shake the feeling that Avex used the three of us as money making tools rather than treating us like artistes.” They also stated, “We feel frustrated that we cannot promise our Japanese fans another meeting in the near future. We need active support and interest from our fans in order to resolve this situation. We hope to resume our activities in Japan and meet our fans again as soon as possible.”

Lawyer Lim Sang Hyuk of Sejong, the legal representative of the TVXQ trio, stated, “It is immoral to back the TVXQ trio, some of Korea’s most representative Hallyu stars, into a corner just because they cannot fulfill a company’s greed. We will work hard to resolve this situation and allow the TVXQ trio to resume their activities in Japan.”

[News] 100916 Professional critics rank the ‘Top 5 Best and Worst Idols’
Korean website 100Beat is receiving a lot of attention for their recent article on the “5 Best and Worst Idols over the past 10 years”, and we’re bringing it straight to you.

The hottest topic of the Korean music industry over the past few years has been none other than the ‘idol fever’ sweeping the market. With previous years being taken over by boy bands, the past 10 years of the music market have been dominated by both group and soloist idols.

Which idols are the best? Which idols are the worst? With the emergence of H.O.T as the initial marking point of the trend, five individual teams were chosen to compile entries for both the best and the worst categories.

Those that participated in the survey include 20 professional critics, such as music magazine editor-in-chiefs, journalists, and broadcast writers. All of them participated in a discussion meeting with ‘100 BEAT‘ in order to come up with the following list.

<”BEST 5″>

1. BoA
2. SNSD
3. Big Bang
4. S.E.S
5. TVXQ / DBSK

BoA has topped the list, having debuted 10 years ago at the age of 14. She’s become the model of detailed planning and success. Maybe it’s because she was produced with the foresight and future planning of penetrating the overseas market, but her music itself was trendy with very little flaws. Her agency created a system that worked positively in BoA’s case, making her first footsteps the standard planning of all subsequent idols. She was also one of the first female idols to blow away the image of being a ‘passive’ woman, making sexist phrases like, “The right and wrong of women are covered behind men,” a thing of the past.

SNSD, who is now regarded as a cultural phenomenon, has taken second. SNSD was able to make those that turned away from the TV screens return with anticipation for their next stunt. Kim Jungwee mentioned, “They’ve even made ‘rock kids’ be able to confidently say that they like idols.”

Big Bang was able to garner attention as well, considering they’re a fresh group and unlike any other idol before them; consequently they’ve gathered a strong fanbase (VIP’s). If SNSD possess the ‘uncle fans,’ Big Bang has the ‘older sister fans.’ One such older sister, Lee Hoyoung, commented, “Their strength lies in the fact that each individual member came together to make a harmonious team, despite having their own talents and interests. Not only that, but they are also strong on their own as well.”

And despite much time having been passed since the era of S.E.S, they are still remembered as ‘the’ model for girl groups, earning their place in fourth. Critic Kim Bonghyun stated, “S.E.S is one of the first idols that successfully accomplished both image and music.” Their competition with Fin.K.L showed the market the effects of competition between stars – much like how the competition between the Wonder Girls and SNSD opened doors for yet a newer generation of girl groups.

In the fifth spot is none other than TVXQ / DBSK. Choi Jisun elaborated on TVXQ’s ranking by stating, “TVXQ works in correspondence with the needs of each new generation. They’re an example of a successful entrance into the Japanese market and a group that has made the Hallyu wave something meaningful.”

[News] 100916 TVXQ Trio Yoochun, Jaejoong, and Yoochun’s ‘Chajada’ Ranked 1 on Music Site’s Real Time Chart

KBS 2TV drama ‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’ OST was officially released on the 16th and the song that is performed by Yoochun, Jaejoong, and Junsu notched the top spot on exclusive real time charts of on-line music website.

On the 16th afternoon at Cyworld BGM real-time chart, TVXQ trio’s ‘Chajada (Found You)’, Xiah Junsu’s ‘Too Love’, and Jaejoong’s solo ‘Noe gen ibyul nae gen gidarim (For you it’s separation, to me it’s waiting)’ ranked 1st, 2nd, and 4th, respectively.

‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’ OST ‘Chajada’ that is sung by Yoochun, Jaejoong, and Junsu is a medium song that is filled with harmony and attractive rhythm, the song was launched as background music during the end of first week broadcast while airing preview of the second week broadcast. Once the music flew, there has been a lot of expectations from fans ever since. Having the song simply inserted in some scenes in the drama practically doesn’t satisfy the audiences, and public reaction started to hype up.

The team leader of content team in well known music update website Monkey 3 said, “This is about the ‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’ soundtrack CD that was just released before.” he said, “The song sung by 3 members of TVXQ altogether snatched no 1 in top 20 of real-time chart, definitely shows their rising popularity.”

[Trans] 100916 JYJ “Already Knew” Of Avex’s Decision Beforehand

It has been found that the TVXQ trio (consisting of Xiah Junsu, YoungWoong Jaejoong and Micky Yoochun) already knew beforehand of Avex’s decision to halt JYJ’s activities in Japan.

Through JYJ’s homepage, Avex announced that “Avex will be stopping JYJ’s Japanese activities for the time being.”

Regarding this, JYJ’s spokesperson Prain stated that, “We were already aware of JYJ’s Japanese agency Avex’s decision.”

Following this, they added that, “We are currently discussing the finer details,” and “We will be releasing an official statement tomorrow morning.”

Prain also stated, “This will have no effect on the trio’s new album that will be released mid-October.”
