im chinese and even tho i think i look verry chinese, but somehow pretty much all asians guess i'm either japanese, korean or caucasian mix w/ something asian.
i don't understand it, but w.e.

it kinda runs in the family, my dad is usually assumed to be local everywhere (apart from when in china), and my mom is usually mistaken for japanese, and my brother for korean.

Apparently my ancestors, up to the current generation, just slept around with everybody....so I have no clue what my ethnic background is. I guess I look white cause nobody gets angry when I put it down on applications and stuff.

I'm 100% northern European, but I've had people think I was Asian or Eskimo.

I'm white. It's pretty good to be white in all honesty aside from people rallying against "The white man". Dafuq I do to you?

Native American - (Apache/Navajo) So, unless I'm wearing a head dress, war paint and riding a "painted" war pony.....I apparently look "illegal" if you know what I mean. Pfft, Border Patrol. You so silly!

Caucasian, it'd be hard for me to be mistaken for anything else. My family is of mostly Western European ancestry.

I like my culture, I'm not ashamed of anything. People do often think I'm Korean, though. No clue how to keep that from happening but it isn't a big deal.

Well, I'm Caucasian, but I honestly couldn't tell you if I looked like what my genetics dictated I *should* look like.

IE. I was adopted and do not know my genetic history.. so I could be 1/4 Cherokee or something and never know it. :S

But this is an interesting topic.

I'm black, and my nationality is American.

So are you part of a race whose culture you'd like to be more apart of?
Hmm most black Americans are into the Hip-hop sub culture, which I'm not too interested in.

Do people deny you because of it or do they embrace you?
I've had a couple of people rudely say I'm not black, most of their reasons were stupid. Things like "you're light." and "you don't listen to Rap/Hip-hop/R&B." are what I've heard the most. I think it's pretty stupid. Just because I'm black I have to be chained to liking hip hop, and other things of the sort. The music doesn't appeal to me that much really.

Share your experiences with people's reactions. If you are not mixed, tell us your opinion of people who are.
I consider biracial people to be the most attractive beings around. I have no problem with them. Most people who don't have a brain have stupid reactions like why don't you listen to "so-so? You're black." as if being black means I have to like Lil Wayne, or 2 Chains and the like. I usually just ignore those types, and just be who I want. I also hate people who try to say I'm not black it's frustrating at times honestly.

In the face I definitely look Japanese, body-wise not so much.

As for being more into Japanese culture, yes and no. I like Anime/Manga, Martial Arts, and the Japanese warrior mentality/philosophy. The way one should behave in society, treat their elders/seniors, and status, not so much.

When I was in Judo and school, and when I meet people, a lot of the time they would ask if I was mixed due to the way I am built. They always told me that my body type and frame isn't typical of someone full Japanese. Broad/wide shoulders, big arms, hands, and feet. I find that men from Japan have a problem with me, never understood why, always giving me stink/skunk eye/staring at me funny. Where as the only time girls have ever flirted with me so openly were girls from Japan, winking, waving for me to follow them...

I tend to envy/admire people who are/looked mixed, haha. My Mom's side of the family and my brother looked mixed and I always wished I looked more like them.

It's a hit and miss with me. My family on my mother's side in particular has some mixed ancestry which we discovered via a heredity test she was submitted to due to a condition that is not really seen in her race (hispanic). Turns out, primarily that we have Japanese ancestry in our blood..which confirmed a lot of questions I had about certain physical features I have (like my eyes).

Moving forward, because of this and other influences of other ancestry in my family, people usually either guess "some sort of hispanic" but never the correct region, usually further down -- like South America (My family is from the Dominican Republic). The other popular assumption is that I'm a pacific islander -- Filipino most of the time, or Indonesian (I had a guy come up to me at a friends gathering which included family and he just flat out spoke indonesian...I didn't know how to react for a minute before he said "oh..oh! wait, your not indonesian?"). Another guess is that because of my bigger frame and height, I'm assumed to be Samoan...my last name doesn't help either, as it is anything but Spanish in nature haha..

So yeah..It happens a lot...but honestly it's entertaining to see what people thing when they see me...all and all comfortably I'd say I guess that's what I should expect if I hail from a mixed lineage.

My culture? well lets see...Dominican culture...there are things I'm proud of (our participants in the olympics, our beautiful island, famous figures..festivals and certain traditions) and things that I'd rather not associate myself with (Like idiotic "DR Gangbangers" that swear they represent the lot of us, and others that just put a negative streak/stereotype on the rest). That being said I'm probably one of the most "unorthodox" of them all out there lol, and my appearance only furthers me from the association. Not ashamed of my culture, but not particularly close to it, either.

I entirely black. I look Nigerian, but people always mistake for being Asian. I'm not sure why or how, but it's weird. Once this Asian girl came up to me in school and asked me if I had an Asian father. I said no, and she asked if I had an Asian father that I didn't know about. She seemed pretty serious too...
