I'm Black. I have Seminole, Irish and Russian heritage as well. I don't have very many Slavic features, even though the russian in my family is pretty recent.

I've been told that I look Asian Indian.

I find this interesting since I've always had this issue. I'm all types of British, Black and Cherokee and depending on where I am and who is looking I'm seen as many different ethnicities. I call it generically brown. My sister, having traveled a lot has tons of stories about this.

During my teenage years this, among other things, had me conflicted and confused to varying degrees. Even though I have always been extremely proud of my heritages, I felt no place to fit into and I still don't. The difference is as an adult I realize that my genetic diversity is in large part responsible for my incredible awesomeness.

So if any of you feel a bit awkward about it now, wait it only gets better. btw, if any of you teenagers get told by someone "these are the best years of your life!" they are fucking liars being an adult kicks ass (that you now have to shave).

The one thing that still bugs me is that I look just white enough for other white people to thinks it's safe to make racist remarks to me. When this happens I have to express to them how uncool it was and in my head I like "well, I though they were a normal person up until now. too bad I kind of liked them" . Does anyone else here experience this?

yes! im darker than most of my race because i opt not to be like the most of them who go to great lenghts to have fair skin...in our country that's like our gauge of beauty...i just wanna stick to my real roots even though my face is quite different than most cause i also have chinky eyes even tho im pretty tan...and i have a quarters spanish blood from my grandma...due to all that, people are like commenting that i should try to be fairer to be prettier but hey! i like being different...

Yeah, I've been told I looked Japanese and Chinese
My parents are actually both filipino, but my mom said that my grandma is half japanese.
I still have to ask them about it.
But anyways, people have told me I don't look filipino at all.

Yeah, I'm a Native American, but a tiny bit of white. So I don't look Native American, or white. But rather something else.

In my sociology class we discussed how race is obviously identified by biological aspects, but is also based off of society's perspective on how we look. I am part Japanese, Chinese, and Hawaiian so I don't really know where my features came from. It makes me feel unique, but I'd rather be able to be in depth with one particular culture and feel like I belong.

Some people know I'm asian right off the bat without asking any questions, others believe that I'm from hispanic descent. I personally don't know what to think about how I look xD

So are you part of a race whose culture you'd like to be more apart of? Do people deny you because of it or do they embrace you? Share your experiences with people's reactions. If you are not mixed, tell us your opinion of people who are. Your views about it can be whatever, just don't be rude

Sorry if something like this was already done.

Genetically speaking there is no race so I don't know why you're saying "biologically".

Alan R. Templeton, Ph.D., professor of biology in Arts and Sciences at Washington University, has analyzed DNA from global human populations that reveal the patterns of human evolution over the past one million years. He shows that while there is plenty of genetic variation in humans, most of the variation is individual variation. While between-population variation exists, it is either too small, which is a quantitative variation, or it is not the right qualitative type of variation -- it does not mark historical sub-lineages of humanity.

I am German, Cherokee, French Canadian Indian, English and Irish. I'm very much a mutt! But looking at me you couldn't tell where my lineages have hailed from. I just like like a white Caucasian person.

Hmm...I'm white, so people naturally just judge me based on that and never bother to look beyond my skin color; they never guess that a great deal of my heritage is Irish.
