I'm Taiwanese-Malaysian. I look Japanese (most of the time) and a few say Korean. But... when I went to Japan, Korea, and Taiwan, all spoke japanese to me. So... japanese is more prevalent in my features. XDD

In my sociology class we discussed how race is obviously identified by biological aspects, but is also based off of society's perspective on how we look. I am part Japanese, Chinese, and Hawaiian so I don't really know where my features came from. It makes me feel unique, but I'd rather be able to be in depth with one particular culture and feel like I belong.

Some people know I'm asian right off the bat without asking any questions, others believe that I'm from hispanic descent. I personally don't know what to think about how I look xD

So are you part of a race whose culture you'd like to be more apart of? Do people deny you because of it or do they embrace you? Share your experiences with people's reactions. If you are not mixed, tell us your opinion of people who are. Your views about it can be whatever, just don't be rude

Sorry if something like this was already done.

Hey, props to the sociology class discussion. Are you majoring in sociology or was it a gen ed class? I considered sociology when I first joined my university but eventually went with psychology.

From what I saw in your photos, judging by your side view I would immediately guess you to be Asian. Face-to-face though I'm not sure what I would guess, but I can see the Hawaiin influence now that I know to look for it. In any case you look great, so don't sweat it too much. :)

I think that a mixed heritage is pretty cool because it shows the evolution of the human species. Humans move forward becoming whatever it is that we're becoming. Respecting where we came from is important, but so is respecting where we're going.

My family refers to our heritage as "heinz 57". My ancestors got around in a big way. We had ancestors in Nottingham and other Welsh areas, Sweden, some who were Ulster Scot (http://www.ulsterscotssociety.com/about.html), and so on. My most prominent features probably come from the Swedish heritage, but that's only when I let the goatee grow out.

Take your best guess:

Nevermind the red neck if you can see it. I had just finished shaving using an old razor. And I typically keep the mustache shaved off these days. Yeah, I need a new photo.

There have been times when people mistook me as white, even though I'm Asian. I guess it has to do with the size of my eyes and my skin tone. My parents told me that my eyes were bluish-gray when I was a child; I wonder if that means anything?

I'm mixed African American/Mexican/Native American
When people look at me they know I'm mixed but most assume that I'm Black and Caucasian. I do wish I was more apart of my Mexican culture and that more of my features were Mexican.

You tell me. xP
Most of the time people get my race right, but I've had a few people call me Indian or Asian cause of the way my eyes are shaped and I wear a scarf.

I'm Malay-Chinese, but I always always always get mistaken for Filipino!
I've even been randomly stopped on the street for it. It's really weird.

I'm half Italian and I think I look it (olive skin tone, aquiline nose, curly hair). I have light eyes from my Irish/Welsh side though. Looking at my sister, it's harder to figure out. She has light skin and brown almond shaped eyes and I think people have asked if she was part Asian before.
