It's just gone midnight in Melbourne and I can't get to sleep. I am alone in the house. Can anyone suggest what I can do to get to sleep, something that works for you?

Lay down in a comfortable position, relax your body, allow your eyes to close themselves and don't think about anything. That always works for me.

Thanks guys. I always have this trouble when my sons are at their father's place. I will try lying down and thinking of nothing (harder than it sounds), and if you see more posts from me in about an hour, you will know it hasn't worked

i have a friend who has that. he enjoys sleepovers with friends, cus like two days ago we did one and we played like video games all night. he says its fun cause he ain't teh only one not sleeping.

anyways concentrate on the first thing that appears in your mind and rest. if that doesn't work, then look back of what you did today.
if it is quite enough you'll haze out and sleep before you can realise. it works for me.

I have my computer at a desk to the side of my bed so i watch anime on this while tryin to goto sleep.

Sometimes I fall asleep with the computer on though... which is strange since it has like 3 fans and is pretty noisy.

And I'm also australian ^_^

i actually dont have this problem, maybe you should just not sleep and go to someones house and play video games with them, or sleeping pills.

Watch incredibly boring anime you'll go to sleep. You could always shoot yourself and you'd be asleep forever, although I don't recommend it lol.

meditation's your best option. most of the time insomnia's caused by a restless mind. clear your mind.

Suicider, you are aptly named I decided not to try this idea. I eventually fell asleep, probably about an hour after my last post, but I'm not sure exactly. The method that worked was trying to clear my mind completely.

Thanks to everyone who made suggestions.
