“What Will Befall Manga If One Piece, Naruto & Bleach End?”
Posted 11/13/10
Doubt anything will happen, honestly. There are other VERY good material that are better then these 3, imo at least. But, in the United States, where manga isn't so well known besides those 3, manga will "die off".

the economy will go down, but i think only a little. the big three used to be good, and are bearable nowadays, but compared to some of the new mangas, they are shit. shonen jump just needs to find some really good manga series to replace them. the only people who would stop buying are the little kids who only like the big three because cartoon network shoved it up their asses.

I agree with AsuraCryin. I'm from Antigua and if I ask most ppl about anime most say Naruto and One piece and sometimes Bleach. honestly sometimes I want to be like explore other stuff cuz I like Bleach alot and because of that along with some other anime I got hooked. if those main manga were gone i'm sure the little manga we have in Antigua will disappear and they'll probably be some ranting from the guys who like Naruto :S

I'm with you on that. I love reading Rosario+Vampire/2 and Gintama. I personally think they deserve the same praise and love (if not, more) the "shounen holy trinity" (lol, akamatsu rules) gets. And yet, I don't see them VERY often in Japan's weekly manga sales or in the U.S. sales.

I'm thinking the reason the big 3 are longer than they should be is for the sake of the genre. Dragonball/Z lasted about 42 volumes and Yu Yu Hakusho lasted 19 volumes but that's understandable b/c back then they were unlike anything before. But now we're talking 3 big titles that look like they're trying to follow DB/Z and YYH's footsteps, and for all I know, trying to surpass them (of course, I find that blasphemous lol). Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Naruto but it's not that great and give it credit for mixing cool ninja and shounen style fighting. Bleach looks like it's trying hard being the new DBZ or YYH by borrowing too much out of them (Chapter Black saga, anyone?). One Piece is all right and although I fully respect it, I prefer somewhat shorter adventures like Slayers, Saiyuki, or Koihime Musou.

It survived fine after Dragon ball and its sequels.

My opinion:

Naruto, One Piece, and Bleach are NOT the only mangas out there. Yes if they end that will cut the manga sales of SHONEN. The shojo manga community will probably still go strong as a lot of shojo manga fans do not care about the big three at all.

As for the group of shonen fans, most of them will quit but others will just move on to other good shonen manga like KHR and new stuff that we all know will come some time soon.

I would be sad if the big 3 ended, I like 2 out of three though none would appear in my top 5. But I don't think the industry will crash there are other huge long ones with no end in sight its just that the big three have much more funding if they did end the funding would just move to a different one like Reborn or Gintama, both are on hiatus but both claim they will come back. Both had about 200 eps which is big when you think about it its a few years and both could be extended indefinitely. In my opinion Gintama would be the perfect successor as the way it is written means that there are occasional arcs but the vast majority is just general, there are underlying themes but I cannot think of any ending to it really unless they kill off the characters. If the big three ended the anime that would be selected as the next big one will just be the one least likely to end so in my opinion it would not be a disaster for the industry and another would simply rise to fill the gap anyway. Big companies like long anime as it can spread round more people by word of mouth and you make a lot more out of merchandising that alone will keep the industry going if all else fails.

Naruto will deficiently be ending in the next 2 years One Piece and Bleach still have a long ways to go so you shouldn't have to worry about that. Also even if the manga ends that doesn't me the Manga-ka dies they can always make another series that is better

Not much. The Big Three fans will likely move to other works, and if they don't the size of the market may contract but it wouldn't cease to be.

Got this off Sankaku, didn't you?

Honestly, I think those series need to die. Mangaka need to expand their horizons.
Unfortunately, most will never do so. They'll just clone whatever else happens to be popular.

One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach aren't the only manga and anime out there..but for me..if these three will end..they better have the best ending that anyone and everyone will be satisfied.. i haven't taken a good liking to watch anime and read manga before these three showed up (except for DBZ) so for me, these three are more like the founder of anime and manga in my life..
p.s.
please don't end these three yet..i'm begging you..lol

One Piece won't end. I think its last 3 volumes have sold over 2 million in the first week alone in Japan. This should surely be enough to at least keep it going for a while now.

The writers probably have new material planned that'll keep everything going well. Like the artist/writer collaboration that made Death Note

I think its funny that the big three are naruto, bleach, and once piece, yet no one mentions Hajime no Ippo which has been running since the 80s and has over 900 chapters.
