I think there does not exist such a thing as the "standard" way of drawing, because manga is art, not mathematical graphing. Therefore, one can draw in whatever way that satisfies one, and good result will come out for sure. Trust thyself! Put time and effort in it. The more one practices, the better one becomes.

agree I suck at drawing backgrounds I gues i have to practis more.
a good way of dooing that is to copy backgrounds from other mangaka or from a picture..

that depends on how you plan on doing it really as to where to get tones. are you talking about on the computer or by hand?

Umm by hand but if there is a computer way then where or how do you get it?

Ok if you do it by hand you can buy screen-tones from various places online, but that can get expensive. As for doing tones on your computer there are many ways i've come across though i personally use Manga Studio EX for my stuff since its easier to use. I know there are ways to do them in photoshop but I couldn't tell you how to do that myself. Best thing i can suggest is look for tutorials for whatever program you use. I've seen a few pattern sets and brushes that seem to be pretty useful for Photoshop.

A "friend" . Manga Studio EX is a bit expensive though but i wouldn't suggest the lesser MS cause it really isn't worth it. Its got only a fraction of the features that you get with MS EX. you look around hard enough you can find it (if you know what i mean )

thats easy, ok so you have your sketch, so scan it, and open it in photoshop. now your sketch should be on a second layer(not the canvas layer), make another layer, this one should be used to ink your sketch .now make another layer and set this one to "multiply" so it can be see thru. then start coloring that thing in. the color should be see thru to the layer with the sketch. after your done and happy, go to merge layers and it should all drop down to the canvas layer. =]

i can upload a step by step pics if u nee more help.

I too am willing to give tips on what i can (cept toning since i'm still trying to get the hang of that myself). Here is one tip right off though. Use your favorite mangas for reference whenever you can. The best way to learn anything art wise is to look at how somebody else did it and try to figure out how they did it for yourself. Don't lose hope if you can't do something the first time you try it either. Everything takes practice just keep that in mind .

For outstanding effort for giving advice to our manga-ka brothers and sisters, you are now a Mod! *appluase alone* ... I wish I could give you something better... yeah... congrats anyways!

I do not really need help with my drawing. But I don't know what to draw? I really want a partner who does all the story writing for me.

It would be difficult for someone your age to get an editor to publish your manga unless you are some manga prodigy but I can tell you this: If you are ever in a anime/manga convention, find out which publishers are taking submissions. Pick your favorite manga and any similar styles that you like. Use the manga you pick up as your "hist list" to see what kinds of manga the companies are publishing. Most manga books list an address or Web site where you can visit to gather more information about submitting work to those publishers. For now just have friends or teachers help you out with your manga.

Well, then find someone you can trust and is a good writer to be your partner. Like a friend or anyone else close to you. The odds of trusting a complete stranger to help you out all the way is 1/1000.

thats pretty much the same with me my cousin is a mangaka and he thinks of the story and we split the work for drawing but if you had someone think of the story for you then you wouldnt be a mangaka you'd juss be the illustrator and nothing more. so try to combine stories that you remember well and be creative.
