(written on September 11th)

I understand that many people wish to mourn today.

I understand that there are some who would like to make it a holiday, and acknowledge a wound.

There are others who would love to make it a day of angry gestures and I can relate to that.

However, I don't think chest beating or tears are the best way to deal with an event like this. Emotional reactions especially ones that alter the way you live or do business are arguably exactly the reactions that terrorists want from such actions.

To me, THIS is the ideal way to honour 9/11:

Have a normal day.

Go to your job, do your shopping, see your dentist or your manicurist or your kid's doctor. LIVE your western secular humanist life to the fullest today. Just like you would any other day in the western world but really REALLY live it.

If your job or hobbies are something you think might objectionable to Osama bin Ladin and those who think like him. TODAY is the day to do those things TWICE as hard.

If you MUST mark the day in someway, here are a few suggestions:

Fly in a Passenger jet.
Ride a Spanish commuter train.
Travel the London Underground.

and finally,

climb the tallest building in your city, turn and face the direction you think best represents Bin Ladin's, grave, hiding place, or home base....

...and urinate.

Today is not a day for tears,or FEARS today is a day to DEFIANTLY live your life as you desire it to be lived 1000% and say 'fuck you' to anyone who'd use a bomb or gun or an exploding plane to make you consider otherwise.

That is all.

Two Metabolic Illnesses, 48 years of age, a buggered up shoulder, No .. I can't

also my army isn't necessarily getting directly involved.

However if you are a soldier. I would argue that today is a day to be especially obnoxious and badass about it. Or merely exceptionally diligent.

Not specifically to you but in general. And from what I've gathered you're Canadian?

Indeed. "freeloading Canuckistan as Pat Buchanen" likes to call us.

We could all have a sappy candlelight vigil like 99.99% of all people do when they are struggling to cope with a harsh reality.

'I believe the best way, is to forget all about it, and move on with are lives.' Let it go...! Its illogical to hold any advent for such a thing.. You do not see me getting a sappy about Pearl Harbor day.

The reality is 99% of the people out their do not give a damn, they just fake as if its a big deal just so they don't get looked at like some jerk.

In the end your not helping anything by bringing up that day.. As If it had some deep meaning, shit happens get over it..

Forget? No. Forgeting events in history is stupid. Not make a big deal out of it? Yes.

Forgetting about the advent and getting over it are two different things.

I meant get over it.. 'stop acting like some teen girl holding onto some grudge because you ex-best friend stole the guy that your crushing on. Or took the last diet soda pop as your reaching out for it.

Don't be as irrational as half the 13 to 24 year old girls out there.

The only people I feel really sorry for are the firemen and police. Most of the firemen knew it could be a one way ticket and still went in. As for the victims no I really could careless about a memorial for them the families. The fighting for money just turned my stomach against them. I thought it was nice to even pay the famlies.. But we had far greater tragedies in this country then that and no holiday from San Francisco to Chicago some two when loading or unloading wheat the tanker explode and all the people that die from hurricane way back then when hurricanes hit. Not like now you have at least a weeks noticed.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Most people think of memorial day just as a day off from work sad but true. Veterans day something. Were still, wide open for attacks nothing changed much so it harder to get through airports. but the border is still wide open. Many city received plenty of money for so called home land defence. That was a farce just another government hand out. Maybe just doing what should have been done years ago tighten up the border. 9-11 was the second attack on the trade towers. If the a memorial day it should be for all the firemen and police officer that die each year doing there jobs.

that's probably healthy. I.. just really don't like bullies. I was sleeping off a night shift when the towers got hit but I remember that day very well.

It was the day no planes flew in the sky.

We shut down our entire airspace on the US behalf and open our homes to any American stranded by this. Many off duty paramedics, firemen and policemen jumped into their vehicles and crossed the border, not to go shopping at a big mall or gambling in Buffalo, but to help at the scene as best they could. Thanks to proximity and individual initiative Canadians were the first Foreign Aid on the ground at ground zero.

It was also the week in which George Bush thanked everyone and their dog for so much as sending a condolence card but didn't think to mention Canada at all. But meh... we're used that shit.

I flew a US flag in my window for years (basically until I moved to my new town) despite our occasional trade disagreements and falling outs. I thought our involvement in Afghanistan was the right thing and I hope we're not pulling out too soon. I saw the attack on the towers not just as an attack on the US but on Western Democracy itself. Ditto the Spanish Train explosion and the Detonation of a bomb in the London Underground. I still think the only valid response to that shit is Defiance.
