I'd have to say that Symphony of the Night is one of the best. There's also: Skies of Arcadia, Legend of Mana, Ocarina of Time and Super Mario Bros. 1 and 3.

Mario Brothers made all game look good. but i believe itz rate #1 bcuz even my parents plays it and they r in their 50's!

Grim Fandango is the best game i've ever played... great storyline, great graphics for its time and possible of the most interesting games i've played.

Though for less old school games, I'd say the new Prince of Persia series is pretty darn good.
