For RPG, the Final Fantasy games have always ranked highly with me. I've also liked the games from Xenosaga and Shadow Hearts.
For Action, the games from the Devil May Cry series are my favorite. I've also played God of War. |

On PS1 it's FF7 No contest.. On PS2 it's FF X.. On Xbox It's Jet set radio future.. On xbox 360 it's either Dead or alive 4 or Perfect dark zero. But i cant really say about the ps3 or the wii because I've only played them once.

Speaking of Final Fantasy, one of the 'gems' of the series apparently is FFIX because it was filled with all kinds of neat references from previous FF games but only a few people have played the older FF games enough to pick them out. For myself, I rather liked FFIX. I liked the progression of the story and the in-game system for abilities. The sidequests in the game were very meaningful and fun as well. This FF game would be one of the best for me.

^^^^^ I totally agree with you i loved ff9 for those exact same reasons it somewhat reverted back to the jobclass system and i very much enjoyed Kuja as the villan (he is the best one ive seen in a ff game)....i felt like ff9 was more of a nostaglia title taking us through alot of the things we loved about previous ff games and added them in itself.

You should be beat with the cat of nine tails and then soaked in salt water while having your throat slit by a rusty blunt object Trevor (OP) |

^ for FFIX, I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed when I fought Ozma. I'm not sure if this boss was a reference to another difficult boss from another game but just the whole concept of fighting a giant multi-colored sphere wasn't my idea of an epic battle. lol.
It's hard to pick out the best PS2 game since I haven't moved away from this console yet. In addition, more games are being made for it as we speak, even ones a lot better than FFX. True, that it may have been one of the better games to come out for the PS2 but I would hardly call it the best. However, I think the Shadow Hearts games should get an honorable mention for interesting battle system. I'm not sure if anyone is a fan or has tried the games from that series. |

Yea but ozma was a side quest boss from the chocobo grave...but i agree i was a bit dissapointed he wasnt very erpic lookin although he was very simple to bring down between vivi and steiner Trevor (OP) |

^ I noticed that too. I liked fighting Ozma with Freya and I've also done some experiments where I've tried to fight Ozma with only one character. I don't think Ozma is too tough to fight.
Another part of this game which makes it one of the best Final Fantasy games I've played would have to be the animation. For instance, the unforgettable scene between Alexander and Bahamut--probably one of the best I've seen. |

Yea thats def in my top 5 cut scenes of all time in ff series.....alexanders wings just emvbrace the castle and bahamuts megaflare just doesnt leave a scratch...i thought it was nice to see alexander as an entire building instead of some robotic looking warrior thing with a crown.....although i wish they would bring back ark from ff9.....he was bamf Trevor (OP) |
